More often than not, Emma ate at her desk when she was at the station so it was a big unusual to see her in the break room finishing up her lunch. Sometimes, she had learned, you just needed to walk away from shit for a while and that's what she'd done. The break room was barely bigger than her office and nearly as spartan in appearance with the exception of a few recruiting posters, the usual workplace information, and thinly veiled threats of Dire Consequences if anyone touched food that wasn't labeled as theirs.
As soon as she'd retrieved her lunch from the fridge and sat down to stare back at the off-white walls, Emma regretted the decision of her lunch destination, but she was even more tired of staring at a computer screen that wasn't giving her any answers (at least until she had more data to extrapolate from). So, she decided to pester Joseph and poke some fun at the recruiting posters. Emma was laughing at the memes Joseph had fired back to her of the posters when Cole found her. Emma sent a quick, Gotta get back to catching bad guys, babe. TTYL! <3, before her amused expression turned serious as she stood.
Tossing out what couldn't be recycled, Emma rinsed out her tupperware dish while she asked, "What's up, partner?" And gestured with a node toward her office— Her gut was telling her Cole had something serious on his mind and that kind of conversation was not fit for the lunch room.
