Emma was nervous. The start they'd had had been tenuous and then there had been the embarrassing fiasco that was Valentines Day. She still had no idea how that came about. Wasn't she supposed to be mad at him? Given what it looked like they'd been trying to do, clearly she had changed her mind about the guy. And well she should have, if she was being honest. It had been exceedingly dumb of her to be so judgmental of Joseph when she didn't exactly have a pristine background, either, no that the he was ever going to know if Emma could help it.
"Unless you're the Wicked Witch of the West," Emma joked. Oh yeah, great joke, Emma. Super. Emma wasn't too nervous about the storm. Between working her ass off and trying to keep a house, Tyler got used to loud noises real quick when she had to squeeze in vacuuming when she could. If she could read Joseph's mind, she'd know she had nothing to worry about. In fact, the two of them were practically in the same boat. Emma hardly dated since moving to Havenwood as she was much too concerned about spending time with Tyler when she could and doing her job to keep a roof over her kids head, food in his belly, and clothes on his back. That didn't leave much room to do the whole dating thing. At least that's what Emma told herself until Ana and Joseph came along. Then it was coffee, parks, and Oh, sure, I'll take Ana to tae kwon do! Having lunch with just the two of them had set the butterflies to fluttering in her stomach.
And yet... Joseph's nervous rambling set her at ease a little. It was good to know that she wasn't the only one overthinking things. She smiled at the writer and reached out to cover a hand over his.
"Hey, I wanna know! You can talk shop all you want. There's no kids to interrupt us, no toy trucks getting rammed into my shins... or the table, or the wall, or pretty much anything." She continued with a tight smile. Oh, yeah. Emma needed this lunch date bad. Like hell she was going to let a little thunder and lightening ruin it.
