Raguel didn’t hate much in this world, but demons certainly topped his list. Listening to her laugh - to it laugh - made him hate this one in particular that much more, a fact emphasized with the slightest further downturn at the corners of his mouth. His gaze, already shadowed in the night, darkened a little more as he took a step closer.
“I don’t know how you’ve managed to hide for this long,” he told her. “But I’m sure you know that your little ride ends tonight.”
Ordinarily, he would have simply expelled the demon right then and there, and had Genna back in an instant. But this time he would not simply be content with sending the demon back to Hell. No, this time, he was going to make sure that the Fallen would never be able to hurt Genna again. And for that, he needed more privacy the street outside the bar.
He placed his palm over her heart, manipulating molecules until he had flooded her bloodstream and tissues with enough iron to trap the demon within Genna’s body. There was no way he’d let the damned thing simply evacuate itself and escape punishment. It had been many, many years since he’d exercised his duty to punish the fallen luminaries of man; although this demon hardly qualified as a luminary, he felt justified enough in his plan. Genna had learned the truth about his status as an archangel; tonight, she would bear unfortunate witness to what that truly meant.
In an instant, they had moved to the little abandoned shack in the woods where he had reclaimed the body of Erik Lang as his vessel. He had cleaned the structure of all prior evidence of the evils that had been committed within, and set a simple wooden chair in the center of the floor. In his preparations, as in all things, he had been careful to burn devil’s traps into the seat of the chair, as well as the floor and ceiling below where it was placed. Overconfidence had lead him to this moment; he would not let it rob him of the justice he now sought.
It was to this chair that the demon was immediately secured. As he secured the last leather binding, he leaned in close and whispered to Genna, who he knew had to be listening.
