Sunshine

"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow."

Hermione said Ron’s spell didn’t work. I disagree.

It brought light and warmth into my life; a ray of sunshine.

Embarrassed, he shrank in his seat. It was as if he didn’t feel worthy of my company, my friendship.

Later I was offered the hand of a boy who was sure he was worthy of me. I turned it down and looked at Ron. He beamed that bright smile at me; finally realising he was good enough.

As if I’d choose a frosty handshake over the warm embrace of sunshine.
