to his* own country.
He was in some ways dangerous to the U.S. too (he had supported people who had tried to kill a previous president, to begin)... But he was very damaging to the people in his own country.
We can't take down their old government and just leave. O.K., Saddam being taken down was good for them (at least most of them). If we leave now, someone else will take over and be just as bad to them. This happens a lot when we leave jobs unfinished over there. That's why something NEEDS to be set up, for their benefit. It's hard, there will be fighting because a lot of people over there don't really even know what's going on, and the people who do are often that fewer set of previously upper-classmen who had more control under Saddam and therefore would RATHER have him under control. They don't understand that government polocies can give both groups more freedom without one being completely overrun if things aren't set up right.
Things can be better for both groups but if we leave it I can completely guarantee it will bite our asses some years down the road. And then, who's going to get blamed for us leaving too soon? Why, President Bush or whoever pulls us out, of course! It's a rock and a hard place for a president in his situation. He can't get through without being hated. It's just not possible.
