"Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated."
" Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign, unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes, visible on TV, and covert operations, secret even in success. We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."
" Fellow citizens, we'll meet violence with patient justice -- assured of the rightness of our cause, and confident of the victories to come."
I'm looking up all my links to his speeches back then, and information on what has happened in the past when we have left countries we made drastic changes to.
But Saddam Hussein was a terrorist to his own country. If we leave now, we fail at making sure they are set up all right.
I also am tired of people telling me that he indicated that it would be a quick little war involving one country. He clearly indicated... Over time, we're planning to go... All out. This is a long, long thing he had in mind, even then, to stop this sort of governmenting (and yes, the governmenting was similar when you take away the fact that Saddam pretended there was a vote), and it was not limited to any particular country. The Middle East, in his head, is a beginning.
