"Queen of Hades, technically," Ruby said, tilting her head as she looked up at him. "You might know your mythology better than I do, but I don't remember anything about Persephone being the founder of the spring break party. You could go to her orgy in the forest and find out more, if you want."
She did a cursory examination of a few of the kitchen's drawers, but didn't come up with anything else of use. Not that that was surprising; thickheaded as he could sometimes be, Sam knew the tools of his trade. He wouldn't have overlooked anything that might be useful to him.
It was easy enough to guess what he was thinking. What else would a hunter think, when they were surrounded by monsters, but that they needed to do something heroic? Nobody was starting any fights, yet, at least not that she'd seen. Persephone just seemed to want to dance and fuck. The child trickster just wanted to play games. Even the angels, wherever they were, seemed to be keeping to themselves-- she could sense them, but hadn't seen one. And she was just fine with keeping it that way.
At his request, she took the measuring cups: to ration out the salt, she guessed. Typical Sam, wanting to give away his weapons to protect other people. Never thinking about what was simply best for him. Never even accepting what rewards other people, like her, tried to give him. She really should have seen that one coming.
"Guess we ought to get our hands on some stakes, then," she said sardonically. "Maybe Buffy the Vampire Slayer can help us with that." Even if she'd said that in a normal voice, it would have come out sounding sarcastic. Really, she was sarcastic all the time, but this place just gave her more to mock. She didn't have much more respect for the demonic and devilish types around here than she had for the demons she'd known at home. Different, sure, but they still seemed to be fairly simple creatures.
