Who: Lesley Toddington and Terry Boot
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: On the stands at the Quidditch Pitch
Summary: Lesley reads and tries to get away from it all
Rating: Low
Despite the awkward position, Lesley actually felt more comfortable than she had in months. The Quidditch Pitch was empty save for some younger students horsing around down on the ground and a group of Ravenclaws who had taken to studying outside as well. Lesley was sitting up in the Hufflepuff section with last year's Charms book, Quintessence: A Quest and her sister's head on her lap. Lesley had tried reading the book last year, but it seemed as if anything she tried to do last year was pointless. For the first time, Lesley felt as if she could read in peace without worrying about who was going to come up and wrangle them all back into the school for another speech of some sort.
Tammie made a noise in her sleep and shifted her head to get more comfortable on Lesley's lap before falling back to sleep. It seemed as if her sister was suffering from insomnia just as Lesley was. Lesley only wished she too had a big sister she could sleep on and not worry about anything or anyone hurting her.
And there it was again. Lesley sighed and shut her book. She was worrying again. Despite how many times she told herself there was nothing to worry about anymore, she just couldn't help it. Spending a year hiding something incredibly personal from her closest friends had irreversibly changed Lesley's character. She wasn't that happy, carefree girl anymore. She could almost feel the wrinkles forming under her eyes.
She glanced down at her sister, and couldn't help but smile. Tammie had been through a lot too, but she had retained her innocence somehow. Lesley had made sure of that. At least she could say that she had done her best to protect her little sister (and brother) from having to grow up too soon.
