Lily stepfather had come to her room every day since she arrived at Mungo’s. The first week he’d asked her to allow her mother to come visit her. The only reason he was able to visit her was because he worked at Mungo’s and he was technically breaking the rule by entering her room. She’d specified to the nurses that she didn’t want any Gagnon’s visiting her. Despite her wishes, her stepfather kept visiting. He made it clear that he was the one financial supporting her stay, but he didn’t force Lily to accept a visit from her mother. She should have been grateful, but all Lily did was stare at him when he came in without saying a word. “You’re leaving tomorrow.” He told her. “I spoke to some people, and your therapist didn’t have any arguments. She agrees that it would be best if you were back.” He’d learned through the days that it was better to say his part, without pausing for a answer from Lily. “Besides I haven’t seen you quite as happy as you were with that Hogwarts boy this week in years. If that’s close to how happy you could be at Hogwarts, that is where you should be.” He left after that, leaving Lily bewildered. She was going to be back at Hogwarts and she wasn’t sure that she wanted to be. Lily wasn’t even sure if anyone knew. Perhaps she was thinking too highly of herself. She wasn’t important – she doubted any one other than Seamus had thought to look for her. If there was one thing she wanted, it was to be finished school. This new schedule would allow her to do so without jumping hoops to figure out how to take her NEWTs when she wasn’t in Hogwarts. On Sunday she was floo-ed back to Hogwarts, in the Great Hall. The Headmistress greeted her there and gave her some owls that had been intercepted. There was only one, but it was still a surprise to Lily. She opened it up on the way to her dormitory. It was…odd and Lily wasn’t sure how she felt about Daphne Greengrass’ attempt to send her presents. When Lily walked into her dormitory she saw Hermione sitting on her bed, a book in front of her. That was nothing out of the ordinary. Lily acknowledged her presence with a nod and walked over to her own bed. |
