Who: Luna Lovegood and Ernie MacMillan, and a random portrait Where: Starting in an abandoned classroom near the library When: Today, Friday April 19, evening after classes ended Warnings/Ratings: Luna's working on spell work and something goes wrong?
Luna was determined in the logical, Ravenclaw manner of determination. She knew that it was going to work, one way or another, she just had to find the right manipulation for doing it. She wasn't entirely sure what that was, yet. In an abandoned classroom somewhere near the library (for she was sure that if she tried this in the library, Madame Pince would yell at her and possibly not ever allow her back in the library again! And that would not be good), Luna had some books scattered about her work station. She'd chosen a desk in the back of the classroom so that it wouldn't be entirely obvious to a passerby what she was doing.
Her notes were scattered directly beside her and she went through them one last time, then lifted her wand and started to speak the words to manipulate a fire charm that she'd been trying to improve during her internship. She may have been easily offered a job because of the man who would be her supervisor, but even Luna wanted to try her best at her chosen future profession. As she spoke with the new intonation and the conjugation of verbs that she'd worked on for so long, Luna felt something strange occur that she couldn't quite describe. As she paused to create the spell, her mind suddenly felt distant, distracted, like she wasn't quite part of herself. Was this right? She wasn't so sure. Was this part of the spell? What was she even doing?
She tried to drop her wand but her fingers wouldn't let go. Maybe the message wasn't getting sent to her fingers properly. She yelled, or so she thought, but it echoed loudly within her mind as she tried to tell herself to let go of her wand to stop the spell from happening. A bright flash of light escaped from the wand, leaving her quickly, and she did manage a sharp yell for help just on time. A nearby portrait happened to hear her cry, and with Luna being Luna, the portrait started to wander throughout the castle, telling anyone who might listen that a student needed help.
