Stephen looked extremely confused this time. "Bats? What bats?" Now Stephen felt a bit odd. He wasn't sure if he was the one missing out on whatever was going on, or if she had seen something that wasn't there. It made Stephen feel uneasy. Tracey's reaction though told Stephen she truly thought she saw something and he frowned, unsure of what to do. "It's okay, shh." He said, trying to comforter even marginally. She didn't seem that she was interested in being comforted though because she soon then stated she was fine.
His eyebrows furrowed a fair bit as he studied her face as she tried to be dismissive. It wasn't like Tracey to pull one over on him, so he didn't think that was in fact the case. He didn't like that her enthusiasm seemed to have drained out of her either. Stephen let her take his hand though and he began to walk forward at her urging. He didn't honestly know what to say to her about it. "Sorry Tracey, I just..." He trailed off, honestly unsure of what he was supposed to continue with.
Instead he walked them around a bit, thinking he knew where he was going. He didn't really though, and he walked them in to a few dead ends. As they reached another one, as the fog cleared, he sighed. "Sorry, I know you want out of here. Do you want to send up a flare and hope they come get us?" He offered. He wasn't sure if they would or not but it was worth a try.
Stephen saw something moving out of the corner of his eye and suddenly a large beast was there, running at them, at full speed. Stephen couldn't work his mind fast enough to figure out what it looked like to him. There was nowhere to run, they were cornered in the tall maze, and so he grabbed Tracey close to him and shielded her as he let out a yell. "Bloody hell a Chimaera!"
