Damon found himself closing his eyes and being lulled into a dream-like state as they hugged. It was always like this with Astoria, even during the most mundane of situations. She made him feel like he was floating and like nothing else in the world mattered more than just being there with her. He held her in his arms and pressed his lips to the top of her head, lingering there for a time and just taking in the sweet smell of her hair.
"There's always more fun to have in the dark anyway," he replied, pulling away only slightly to smile at her. "You look beautiful." He tucked back some of her hair behind her ear and under her cute little hat. It looked adorable on her.
He laced his hands with hers and glanced back at the night sky. "I've got something to show you," he said, reluctantly moving away from her warmth and toward the much colder balcony where his telescope was set up. He didn't need to use it tonight, but he still liked to have it with him, as it was the most expensive thing he actually owned.
