Call him what you may but there was no denying that Kieran was a Ravenclaw. When most students would be content to be done with their studies and not have to read yet another book for a while, Kieran loved nothing more than to dive right back into a book of his choosing. Today, he was swimming through the pages of one of his old favorites, Pride and Prejudice. So, it wasn't smutty goodness like the types of stories he often wrote, but Kay had many different sides to him. He wasn't all about the smut all the time. He was multifaceted despite what many would think, and he had a healthy passion for Miss Austen's novels.
However, he was being a bit peculiar as he was just aimlessly strolling the caste while reading his book at the same time. He was not a sit down reader. He had to be roaming and imagining things that were written in the book projected onto the walls like a movie at the cinema. His imagination was so intense at times that it was astonishing how he could contain it all inside his head. He had so many ideas that he often forgot them if he didn't manage to write them all down fast enough. And while his roaming was odd, it didn't mean he was just running about. He was strolling.
Strolling through the Great Hall. Strolling up the Grand Staircase. Strolling through a corridor. Strolling toward the...
Kieran paused and looked up from his book. He was standing in front of the moving staircase now, the one that led up to the Ravenclaw Common Room. He waited there in front of it, just to make sure that it wasn't going to move just as he stepped onto it or anything. Once he was sure though, he decisively took the stairs two at a time just to get through it quickly before they...
A thud and a shudder caused him to stop and grip the banister tightly. His book fell and bounced down a few steps but remained on the staircase as it began to move and shift in a different direction. Kieran now had a death grip on the banister. His eyes were closed so tightly that he was starting to see tiny stars, and he was holding his breath. Or perhaps it was that he simply could not breathe.
This was one of the worst possible things that could ever happen to him with his fear of heights so prevalent. And even when the staircase stopped moving, Kieran still held onto the banister, the fear completely paralyzing him. He knew he had to move before the stairs decided to change again, but he couldn't even feel his legs. All he could do was stand there gripping the banister, eyes closed, breath ragged, slightly hunched over and praying that someone friendly would come along to help him.
