Mandy's cheeks grew warm when he complimented her. She wasn't used to being noticed. Boys generally just saw her as a friend or maybe a sister. Even when she put effort into looking extra nice, they didn't seem to notice. Terry's response to her appearance tonight was obviously sincere and definitely approving. She smiled and thanked him as she tried the fight the blush. It was really annoying how she could control it!
She was still smiling when she took his arm and for the first time she started to wonder about whether this was a date. She hasn't had a lot of dates, so she could have just imagining it, but it seemed like this was different from the other times they'd just hung out.
"I don't mind," she assured him. She really thought it sounded nice, actually, even if it was a bit chilly out. Her cheeks warmed again and she ammemded her statement. "You did promise to keep me warm."
