Now that the Kelpie was adequately damaged, he was starting to become easier to manage. Megan broke the rope tying spell and cast, instead, a sharp crack into the air. A bolt of light came from her wand and hit her intended target - a heavy branch from a large oak tree.
There was a groan and a shudder as the branch finally lost the support of the tree and fell, smashing onto the head of the already disorientated creature.
Megan screamed, reached forward to grab the younger boy by the hand and pulled. "Corner!" She insisted, started to climb back up the path. The beast was not dead, though he was certainly slow enough to give them a head start in escaping.
