Date: November 5, 1997 (evening) Characters: Megan Jones and Open Location: Astronomy Tower Private/Semi-private/Public: Public Summary: Megan can't get the images out of her mind Status: Beginning
This was one of the many times in Megan's life when she wished she had been better at Transfiguration. She would have perfected a way to make herself disappear.
She didn't want to lie in her bed in her dormitory or in her favorite chair by the fire. And the chill outside had gotten a bit too strong to under the trees by the lake. All her favorite places were open wide and filled with people she wanted to talk to, but didn't. The ones who looked at her and only saw the spectacle that had been made of her during DADA. Megan couldn't help but remind herself that much of this was her fault. She shouldn't have pushed Crabbe's buttons at the Halloween Feast. But then again, who the hell knew he'd be smart enough to pull off a spell like Imperius.
There were several other people in her mind as well. Those who stood and did nothing, those who joined the mind games and those who tried to be heroes - only to fall victim themselves. There were words she could say to any one of them, but instead she hid in the Astronomy Tower. Megan found a cove to sit in, a window in the observation area where the telescopes gazed into the night sky. She sat, her back pressed against the stone wall, her knees pulled up to her chest. It was then and only then, did Megan allow herself to feel.
