Date: October 2nd 1997 Characters: Ginny Weasley, anyone else Location: One of the many corridors in Hogwarts Private/semi-private/public: wide open. more than one person can tag if you want, I don't mind! Summary: Alone for a few minutes, Ginny takes off her brave face. Status: Beginning.
Hogwarts was a huge castle, but even with a lot of missing students, it was sometimes hard to find a private place. Ginny grew up in a house with a lot of other people under the roof, but she liked being alone. She had found a place, a deserted corridor with a window at the end, a few empty classrooms branched off of it and a bathroom to one side. It was empty, and being alone was what she needed for a moment.
Ginny pressed her forehead against the stone beside the window, looking out at the grounds. The grass even looked duller, and that mist still hung eerily over everything. The depression was tangible in that mist. Ginny raised her hand and traced the outline of the stained glass window, letting the panic have her for a few seconds. She breathed in, and counted to five.
One.
They were all going to die.
Two.
The Carrows would see to it. It was only a matter of time before they killed a student. Ginny had to stop mouthing off, but if it wasn't her, it would be someone else.
Three.
They would probably do it quietly, too. It would be remarkable to make an example of a student by killing them during a class. Too many witnesses, not even the Carrows were that stupid.
Four.
It would probably be a detention. They would drag a student in there, torture them, let them think that they were safe, and kill them. She could die there, at their hands, and never be found. Her parents, her brothers, Harry, all of them - they would never find her.
Five.
Ginny exhaled. The panic had its five seconds, let her sweat a little, made her shake, but it was gone. Her eyes had clamped closed, and when she opened them again she could see spots. Another deep breath.
There were footsteps now, but they weren't the purposeful kind. Ginny prayed that whoever was approaching wasn't a foe, because she had enough detentions recently to keep her from wanting to get another, and knowing her, she wouldn't keep her mouth shut.
