Staring absentedly into the fire, it took a moment for Megan to respond. She turned her head toward Ernie, her curls shivering slightly as she did.
"What? Oh." Megan glanced down at the parchment in her hands. She had never been terrible good at talking about certain things. Distracted, her left hand escaped her lap and grazed against the fading scar on her right arm.
"It's nothing. Just a quick note from home." Megan refolded the paper and shoved it into the pocket of her trousers.
