Week Seventeen: Wednesday

When: Six o’clock
Where: Sam’s room
Who: Sam and Easton
What: Breaking-up is hard to do.

Sam could think of a billion other things she’d rather be doing, like rolling around in honey and walking into a beehive, but it was something that had to be done. It wasn’t fair to anyone, especially Easton, and so she just had to suck it up and grow a spine. It was going to be easy, and she sure as hell wasn’t going to feel relieved afterward, but she was going to get through this and get it done. If she didn’t do it now, then she wasn’t ever going to do it.

Since she had to order the Chinese and be back in her room by six, she made arrangements with Kiernan to get one of his other sitters to watch Alana for the evening. The six year old wasn’t exactly thrilled to be missing out on another night of watching Dora but in the grand scheme of things, the little girl’s pout was a small price to pay. Besides, there was always tomorrow and Sam had promised ice cream so she’d be forgiven soon enough.

After meeting the delivery guy at the front of the school, Sam headed back to her room and set out all of the cartons on a blanket she had laid out across the floor. Prince was pacing back and forth, but whether it was because he could sense his owner’s nerves or because he wanted some Chinese food she wasn’t quite sure. “I’m sure Easton will have a treat for you,” she said as she scratched the pup behind the ears. “Now go lay down.”

It seemed like the clock had barely hit six when a knock sounded at her door. Taking a deep breath, Sam walked over and pulled it open. “Hey, come on in. I’ve got everything all set up.”

Week Sixteen: Saturday

Who: Jax and Sam
When: Saturday Night
Where: Sam's room

Marijuana was your friend. Well at least it was Jax's friend. And possibly her best friend at the moment. It very well might have made her a few friends as she walked down the hallway not giving much of a fuck that she left a trail of sweet smelling smoke behind her. What were they going to do? Give her a detention. Maybe send her to her stupid guide teacher for some punishment. Boo-fucking-hoo. She honestly didn't give two shits and really she was on her last joint anyway so if they wanted to take it away from her... they wouldn't be getting much.

That and Jax had a nasty case of glaucoma so yeah... clearly she needed the shit. She'd get a doctor's note or something like that.

One last puff and Jax tossed the the butt of the joint on the ground and smooshed it out with the sole of her van's. Whoops did she forget to pick that up. Her bad. She wasn't going far, maybe if the world was lucky she'd pick it up on her way out of her sisters room. Oh wait, had she already passed her room?  Jax came to a halt in the middle of the hallway. Well fuck, teach her to leave her room this loaded while trying to find something. Eh. Not like she was far, hallway wasn't that big. But uh...

Jax turned around again and yanked her hoodie back onto her head as it threatened to fall off her head as she squinted at the doors trying to find her way back to her sister's room. It was... oh yeah it was that way. Score one for her. Jax made her way over to Sam's door and managed to pound heavily on the door. More alochol was needed to pair with the last of the weed she had. No, she was not fucked up enough yet. She still felt like shit. Still missed Manny and still hated herself or missing him. Of course he'd had to go back to Salem. And of course.. oh fuck why wasn't her sister answering her door faster.

Bang bang bang

Yep she got another loud pounding mere seconds after the first. Didn't really matter that super-fucking-woman couldn't have answered in the time that Jax had given her. It sure felt like forever!

"SAM!" okay that should have got the point across. Drinking time = now.

Week Fifteen: Friday

When: Late
Where: Sam's room
Who: Sam and Kiernan

With her evenings filled with watching Alana, the days seemed to pass by much more quickly. After classes she actually had something to look forward to and even though she always left exhausted, she just couldn't seem to get enough of that little girl. It was painfully obvious that her biological clock had planned to wreck havoc on her system but Alana's presence in her life seemed to mute it a bit. And for that she was grateful. Children were not something she saw in her near future or even distant future as sad as it was to admit. So she would be content taking what she could from that bouncing ball of limitless energy until the day she would have to inevitably walk away. A day she rather not think of.

Today, her time with Alana had been filled with mastering the hand clapping songs and playing hopscotch outside. Easton would be paying for that one later, mark her words. If he somehow thought he was going to get away without having to learn any, he was sadly mistaken. Not that she minded, but it would serve him right telling Alana to teach her all of the songs. Sam was good at memorizing and being silly, but even she had to admit that by the tenth one she was ready to be done with it all.

After she had finished and Kiernan had returned from class, she grabbed her things and headed back to the room. Dinner had been shared with Alana so there was no need to stop anywhere else. This gave her some extra time and it was pretty pathetic that on a Friday night her only plans had been to shower, check her email and pick a new book to read. What Easton had been doing she had no clue, but if she had a guess, he was probably nose deep in a text that would keep him busy for days. Sometimes it was hard for her as the "girlfriend" to be okay with that, but then the "best friend" would step in and remind her that it was perfectly normal and that she shouldn't push because they were still taking things slowly while working it all out.

The amount of time she had spent in the shower was far too long and she emerged slightly wrinkled while smelling of cherry blossoms. After changing into some cotton pajama pants, a tank and a sweater robe that she really could live in, she towel dried her hair and ran a comb through it. Since she wasn't planning on going anywhere, she chose not to dry it and instead let it hang loose and damp around her shoulders. Once she was all good to go, she picked up her well loved copy of Jane Eyre and flopped down onto her bed to settle in and get her read on.

Only about a quarter of the way in, a knock at the door caused her eyes to snap up and a brow to quirk. Prince did a sort of half stir from his bed on the floor but settled back down to sleep. Dog-earing the page, she was bad she knew, she climbed off her bed and moved to open the door. "Kiernan?" The surprise was evident on her face and practically audible thump of her heart didn't go unnoticed. "Is something wrong? Come in."

Week Thirteen - Saturday

Who: East and Sam
When: Afternoon
Where: Sam's room

That first week back on campus had been more hectic than he'd imagined. There was the jet lag to deal with and then of course the new classes starting, not to mention the whole week wrapping up with a full moon. He hadn't actually gotten to see Sam since his return, though they'd gotten to talk to one another a few times...e-mail, phone, even those bloody little text messages he was bound and determined to master. He didn't want her to mistake the distance for a lack of trying to fix things on his part. Earlier in the week, East had made the decision to go and check in on her after the full moon, making sure to give her time to recover, of course. He was sure that she was fine, but there was understandably that little voice in the back of his head that feared the worst. Now was not the time to give that annoyance any undue power.

Of course, he couldn't show up empty handed, that was just rude. So he was quick to shower and pulled on a pair of old, kind of ripped up jeans and pair of bright green trainers. He nabbed a black and cream striped shirt and slid it on while he gathered up anything else important and ran out the door. Thankfully Sam wasn't one of those annoying girls who would refuse to sink their teeth into anything remotely resembling food, so he rushed towards a little deli in town he'd found that made the most brilliant sandwiches. He ordered two to go and a couple orders of their homemade fries, waiting while the staff whipped up their delicious snack. Once it was done he made sure to thank them, heading back out to catch a cab back to campus.

The ride back to Halycon was so quick that when he was knocking on Sam's door, the sandwiches were still hot in his hand. He only hoped she could appreciate them as much as he did. If not, he had her present from London in his pocket and that was surely something that would get her all excited, which was half the reason he gave her gifts after all...he loved seeing how thrilled she got. "Sammy, open up," he called with a laugh, waiting outside her door. He could hear Prince's tags jingling on the other side, knew she had to be heading his way.

Week Eight - Monday

Who: Sam and Easton
Where: His room
When: Evening
What: Making up for being a sucky boyfriend lately

School had been pounding Easton with assignments lately, so much so that his extra-curricular activities seemed to be suffering. He hadn't made a French Club meeting in weeks and even time that he would have otherwise spent with Sam and Prince had been eaten up...and that was something that was totally unacceptable. There seemed to be a break in his work, a light at the end of the tunnel - at least for a night or two - and he intended to make the most of it. Earlier in the day he'd fired off a quick IM to Sam, asking her to swing by that night so that they'd have a chance to spend some time together before things undoubtedly picked up once more.

In college, they'd made it a habit to try and get together once a week for a movie and pizza in one of their places. It was strictly a relaxing evening, one where sweatshirts and pajama pants were often the wardrobe of choice. Tonight was the perfect chance to recreate the way they'd spent so many nights together back then. Easton had already pulled his couch back and shoved the
coffee table out of the way, spreading out a blanket and tossing some pillows onto the floor in front of his tv. He'd dimmed the lights and made sure to have Sam's favorite pizza hot and ready just in time for her to show up. He'd even made sure to pick up some of those silly chew toys Prince seemed to like so much - had to make sure the pooch enjoyed himself too, after all.

He'd stocked his fridge with Sam's beer of choice and a pack of chocolate cupcakes in case she was craving something a little sweet for dessert. It had taken more than a little digging to find the old SUNY sweatshirt of his that she'd usually snagged for their movie nights, but he'd managed to track it down, tossing it across one of the pillows situated on the floor. East had
wracked his brain to try and remember the few movies that she'd always insisted they watch and hopefully his memory hadn't completely failed him.The DVDs were stacked beside the player and, so far, everything seemed to have fallen into place. Now he just had to settle in, wait for Sam and Prince and hope they arrived before the pizza got cold.

Week One - Wednesday night

Who: Easton and Sam
What: Birthday present thank yous
When: Around 8
Where: Easton's room

So far the plan to leave Sam a little present for every day leading up to her birthday was going quite well. He knew the plane tickets would be one of the bigger things she'd be thrilled about and her reaction hadn't been anything less than what he'd hoped for. The smaller things - a framed photo of them their first night out after having met, the digital camera - she seemed to truly enjoy them as well. Of course the fact that she was coming to his room tonight meant that there was no way of hiding Thursday's gift, a fact he had completed overlooked when he'd invited her over. It was nearly impossible hiding the little pup from her anyway, he couldn't wait to see the look on her face, so perhaps this was for the best anyway. Besides, if he kept the little furball in his room any longer he was going to have to stop wearing black all together or just accept that all his socks would no longer be hole-free.

The little guy was curled up in his bed at the moment, watching his temporary caretaker with what looked pretty close to amusement. East was taking a bit to clean the place up, making sure he had something to snack on, something for them to drink - all the necessities, that type of thing. Plus, his place wasn't always completely clean so it needed a bit of straightening before company could be allowed inside...dirty clothes in the hamper, anything embarrassing tucked out of sight. Sam had been ordered not to snoop, but he knew she couldn't resist completely. He'd already tossed any remaining letters from the girls she so often teased him about before - he wasn't writing back anyway so it had seemed silly to keep them laying around. East wasn't exactly a slob, either, so cleaning his place didn't take nearly as long as he'd thought.

Of course it was almost eight as it was, so there didn't seem to be much else to do but sit there and wait for Sam to arrive. He pulled a few movies from his collection that he thought (or knew) she might like, tossed them onto the coffee table and took a seat on the couch, idly channel surfing to pass the time.
