Week 17- Monday

Who: Simon and Sydni
Where: Sydni's Room (le gasp!)
When: After dinner

There went Sydni, walking out of the dining area and heading back to her room. Simon had been eating supper, thinking about his earlier encounter with Sasha, that dog and the fact that Heaven and Hell was closed for the week. Damn. He'd been wanting to go with Sydni. He'd been dying to go with her. He had so very badly wanted to scope the place out so when Cissy got back from New York, he could ask her to go. Oh well, it looked like things would be delayed another week.

All throughout dinner he'd been looking for Sydni. He had missed her after their Supernatural Races: Fact and Fiction class. The caf seemed like a sure place to find her, but he'd apparently missed her here, too. Moving as quickly as his gangly legs could carry him, Simon dumped his tray into the dirty dishes bin (some of it splashing onto the poor cafeteria workers) and raced out the door. Despite his exceptionally long legs, he again managed to just miss Sydni as she disappeared into the forbidden section- the House of Fire's girls' dormitories. Fantastic.

He waited a few moments, hoping another female would happen by and he could ask her to fetch Sydni for him. Ten minutes passed. Fifteen. Ninety, for all Simon knew. What he did know was that he was getting impatient, and not allowing the opposite sex into your room was a stupid rule. Where did the students have sex? On the school grounds, that's where. Wouldn't it make more sense to let them hole up in their rooms? He decided to go for it, consequences be damned. Making sure no one was looking, Simon snuck up to Sydni's door, took a deep breath and knocked.

Week 17: Monday

Who:  Ita and Jillian
What:  Boy talk and ice cream - couldn't get more girly than that
Where:  Ita's room
When:  After classes and dinner

Ita was more than a little excited about ice cream with Jillian tonight.  She and Jillian had really hit it off, and she was glad she had made such a good friend so soon.  It would have been very lonely for her if she hadn't made a good friend this quickly - she was used to being so busy socially that she had zero time for much of anything else.  And while she had kept herself quite busy socially, they were fleeting introductory meetings for the most part - totally different from the friendship she had struck up with Jillian.

During her mid-day beak, she had baked some brownies - just the Betty Crocker box kind since she didn't really have time for genuine homemade - and had even dusted some chopped walnuts with sugar and cinnamon for sundae toppings.  Everything else she'd bought and was waiting in her room.  She'd even managed a blender in case they decided on frappes or milkshakes (depending on your home region).  There were bananas for banana splits; toppings like strawberry sauce, chocolate sauce, marshmallow fluff, and caramel; rainbow and chocolate sprinkles, crushed cookies, and M&M's; whipped cream and cool whip.  Really, there was enough for an entire ice cream social.  Not that Ita hadn't seen teenage girls capable of demolishing the entire stock in a single night.  She just figured it was unlikely.

After classes and dinner, she stopped by the kitchen and picked up the last few things - the cartons of ice cream she'd bought.  Tri-flavor (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate), cookie dough, and mint chip.  She figured that Jillian had to like at least one of them.  Personally, she preferred the vanilla as a clean palate to start from - once she started adding toppings it would be incredible.  She hurried back to her room and stuck them in the fridge until Jillian arrived, which should be any minute.  Her mini fridge had a less than awesome mini-freezer, and it would work until Jillian got there.  Then she changed into a cute short and tank pj set (Playboy bunny all the way), and set the TV to a music station.  This would be fun!  Like a sleepover, but not quite.

Every time she heard someone walk by, she would bounce up from the bed, and make her way to the door, only to be disappointed when they walked by.  Finally, someone actually stopped at the door, and before they could even knock, she opened the door.  "I'm so excited!  Everything's already, but we should hurry or the ice cream will melt."  With that, she reached out to grab the other woman's arm, with the intention of pulling her inside.

Week Seventeen: Wednesday

When: Six o’clock
Where: Sam’s room
Who: Sam and Easton
What: Breaking-up is hard to do.

Sam could think of a billion other things she’d rather be doing, like rolling around in honey and walking into a beehive, but it was something that had to be done. It wasn’t fair to anyone, especially Easton, and so she just had to suck it up and grow a spine. It was going to be easy, and she sure as hell wasn’t going to feel relieved afterward, but she was going to get through this and get it done. If she didn’t do it now, then she wasn’t ever going to do it.

Since she had to order the Chinese and be back in her room by six, she made arrangements with Kiernan to get one of his other sitters to watch Alana for the evening. The six year old wasn’t exactly thrilled to be missing out on another night of watching Dora but in the grand scheme of things, the little girl’s pout was a small price to pay. Besides, there was always tomorrow and Sam had promised ice cream so she’d be forgiven soon enough.

After meeting the delivery guy at the front of the school, Sam headed back to her room and set out all of the cartons on a blanket she had laid out across the floor. Prince was pacing back and forth, but whether it was because he could sense his owner’s nerves or because he wanted some Chinese food she wasn’t quite sure. “I’m sure Easton will have a treat for you,” she said as she scratched the pup behind the ears. “Now go lay down.”

It seemed like the clock had barely hit six when a knock sounded at her door. Taking a deep breath, Sam walked over and pulled it open. “Hey, come on in. I’ve got everything all set up.”

Week 17: Monday

Who: Ari and Evelyn
Where: Ari’s room
When: Monday Night

There were few times that one could get him to stay inside of a building for any amount of time. But, he found that having the light around while he was trying to do homework helped move things along that much easier. Not that he needed actual lighting, with his elven eyes, starlight was more than enough for him to read the words off of pages and write things down. But there were times where the human comforts were almost desireable. And, it was far more simplistic to leave his books in his room while he was out and about the lands.

Of course, what was it with these teachers and enjoying giving out homework? If it wasn’t one thing, it was another. Of course, he felt sorry for all the other kids in the school. Being an elf, and not needing sleep like most other creatures did, he had an extra several hours each night that he could devote to his studies and still be quite rested for the week. So, he tended to get most things done early in the week. Which was far preferred by him, as it allowed him the rest of the week to be able to go out and do other things. Even if those other things were nothing more than walking around the woods, or watching the waves crash against a rocky cove.

He had invited Evelyn over that night as well. They had a class together, after all, one of those that actually gave out a bit of homework. Plus, she was raised as a human, so human history was something she could help him out with as well. Not that they ever got much studying done most of the time. Especially when there was booze laying around. And there was booze laying around this time. His parents had sent him another couple of cases of Elven Spirits. Human drinks tasted so plain and pale compared to a good solid, elven drink.

He set his books out to the side as he grunted a bit. His legs cross style as he looked over them and waited for his partner to show up. He didn’t bother to leave the front door unlocked. The guards might cause a scene after all. No, instead, he left his window open. Girl could fly, after all, it wouldn’t be that hard for her to walk outside and just float on up to his room. That, and she needed to learn how to fly better! He thought of it as practice, even if he was sure she’d slap the hell out of him if he ever said that part out loud to her.

Week 17: Tuesday

Who: Xander and Shoko
Where: Back room in the library for dance lessons
When: Tuesday evening after classes

Damn ice demons. Nearly every demon on the school, and indeed the world, liked it when it was hot. It was their preferred element. But no, Xander had to go and become fond of the one who was just the opposite. Just when summer was going on full rise and it was getting hot outside. Hot enough to where he was just chapping at the reigns to go out and enjoy the surf and the sun, and everything the hot weather provided. Instead, he was indoors, in an air conditioned back room of the library, as he leaned back against a chair. His feet were propped up on another as he turned on his I-Pod and then fiddled with it to get the right songs going. She was, after all, a sap for the romantic love songs, so he made sure that this time those were going to be the ones playing.

There were also a pair of beers laying off to the side, and even a couple of bottles of sake. She was Japanese, after all, it was likely that was her preferred drink. The young demon was already working off his first bottle as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and played with it. He might have been cut off from the real world physically, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t keep up with his friends and bandmates by other means. And if there was one thing that he actually cared about on the outside, it was the situation with his band. Like all musical groups, it tended to be filled with strong personalities. Personalities that often needed someone to guide them and keep them from fracturing. Most often, that was his job. But it had fallen upon his drummer, who was even now whining about it.

When she would arrive, Xander would still be sitting in his position as he typed away on his phone. A wide smile was on his lips as he replied to his drummer, and gave the poor guy advice on just what to do about the others who were, even at that moment, screaming and yelling at each other. Boy, did he ever need to get back to Los Angeles, even if for only a weekend. But, he was going to give it some time and see just what might or might not happen.

When Shoko finally did arrive, however, Xander would glance up toward her and grin. “Mind if I take your picture? My best bud back in LA doesn’t believe I’m chillin’ and dancin’ with a hot Japanese chick right now, and I wanna prove him wrong.”

Week Sixteen: Saturday

Who: Jax and Sam
When: Saturday Night
Where: Sam's room

Marijuana was your friend. Well at least it was Jax's friend. And possibly her best friend at the moment. It very well might have made her a few friends as she walked down the hallway not giving much of a fuck that she left a trail of sweet smelling smoke behind her. What were they going to do? Give her a detention. Maybe send her to her stupid guide teacher for some punishment. Boo-fucking-hoo. She honestly didn't give two shits and really she was on her last joint anyway so if they wanted to take it away from her... they wouldn't be getting much.

That and Jax had a nasty case of glaucoma so yeah... clearly she needed the shit. She'd get a doctor's note or something like that.

One last puff and Jax tossed the the butt of the joint on the ground and smooshed it out with the sole of her van's. Whoops did she forget to pick that up. Her bad. She wasn't going far, maybe if the world was lucky she'd pick it up on her way out of her sisters room. Oh wait, had she already passed her room?  Jax came to a halt in the middle of the hallway. Well fuck, teach her to leave her room this loaded while trying to find something. Eh. Not like she was far, hallway wasn't that big. But uh...

Jax turned around again and yanked her hoodie back onto her head as it threatened to fall off her head as she squinted at the doors trying to find her way back to her sister's room. It was... oh yeah it was that way. Score one for her. Jax made her way over to Sam's door and managed to pound heavily on the door. More alochol was needed to pair with the last of the weed she had. No, she was not fucked up enough yet. She still felt like shit. Still missed Manny and still hated herself or missing him. Of course he'd had to go back to Salem. And of course.. oh fuck why wasn't her sister answering her door faster.

Bang bang bang

Yep she got another loud pounding mere seconds after the first. Didn't really matter that super-fucking-woman couldn't have answered in the time that Jax had given her. It sure felt like forever!

"SAM!" okay that should have got the point across. Drinking time = now.

Week Sixteen: Tuesday(narrative)

Who: Miss Errona and Caibre...by presence
When: Early Monday morning
Where: House of Fire. Boys dormitory. Caibre's room
What: Never send a man to do a woman's job.

A Witch of Leecee's path was the most classic and misunderstood of Witches, in her own estimation. The essence of her magic called into question the very value of goods, the very value of one's own emotions. She did not reach into someone's mind to change something, she changed it so thoroughly it often seemed natural to the person for whom it was changed. In her saucepan she could boil affection, she knew the exact recipe for different kinds of love.

She, someday, with a quilt storing her power, might even be able to create brand new life of great power from the very universe itself. What was this God or the Bible but rumors of a great and powerful Witch? Let them spew great tentacles of fire or call forth waves. You could paddle a boat, you could dig a hole, and humans had figured out how to spew fire. But they barely understood the basic applications of her practices.

It, of course, had its downsides. Unlike many of the other races and magic-users, a person did not often fear a Witch face-to-face, especially if that Witch were empty-handed, unless you were a special case like her grandmother. But if you learned your craft, you found ways around this through a developed business acumen. Amongst the guards, Leecee had developed a few useful relationships. Sometime, like today, she might want to move around unseen --something that was beyond her own gifts. Yet, with just a simple request, she stepped aside to let a young man stride past her, his shorts slung unattractively low. She looked back again...on the other hand, this new style did have its benefits.

It was interesting the things she did when no one was looking. She stood in front of Caibre's door, unseen in these early hours by eye or physical sense. The house of Fire was not known for its spiritual sense, she knew. Not that she needed to explain herself to anyone, she figured, as she poured the mercurial and glowing contents of a tiny vial in front of Caibre's door as she twirled the tube clockwise and chanted soundlessly.

Just before contact with the stone floor it turned to smoke and, goaded by Leecee's voice and its own inherent purpose mixed into it, floated slowly into his room. She could not see inside, but she could imagine it creeping across the floor before forcing its heavy mist to rise in response to his breath. Three minutes of patient waiting and she turned her skeleton key in the doorknob. In her bag was one strong piece of double-knitted navy blue sheepswool, brown yarn, yellow embroidery thread made from a maiden's hair (it was rather unattractive, but useful), and a delicate pair of gleaming steel thread scissors that, when unscrewed, became two very precise and discreet scalpels. )

Week 16 - Thursday

Who: Mircea and Cassandra
When: Thursday Dusk
Where: Cassandra's Room (or rather window!)

As Mircea flew over the school in his crow form, he let out a raucous caw before he landed in the tree nearest the window at Zephir House he desired to peek into. Hopping down the branch until he reached the windowsill, he looked into the window, cocking his head this way and that before he spotted his target. He'd found her. It had taken a couple of days, but Mircea had managed to find Cassandra. His little prophetess. The daughter he'd never had (for damned good reason.) He beak opened as he let out a clacking sound before he watched her for a few minutes.

She looked older, a little wiser, and far more healthy. Being at the school had done her well, at least in the physical sense. He wasn't sure if she'd learned to control her powers any better, but that could be found out in due time. He didn't want her to see his face, to know that he was here. She didn't know his real name, the name he was using now that he was on the staff at Halcyon Halls, so he'd at least have the advantage of surprise. He wasn't certain how she would react to his presence, but he doubted the reaction she did have would be a favorable one. In retrospect, he hadn't treated her nearly as well as he could have, but he'd been consumed with his goal.

Not that much had changed in that respect.

He wasn't going to let her see his wolf form, either, as she would recognize it. He'd guarded her many a time in that form, letting her think perhaps that he was a pet, a rough dog that Jack had taken in to watch his precious prophetess.

Week 16: Thursday

Who:  Sydni and Vinnie
What:  An intro
Where:  House of Fire Common Room
When:  Evening

Sydni was beginning to feel claustrophobic in her room.  Usually she'd go for a walk when that happened, but tonight she had to finish taking notes down on the reading Miklos had assigned to her.  She'd be up late doing it, too.  It was almost a boon, being bitten on Thursday - all the time off had given her a chance to catch up on sleep and assignments.  She'd been running on around 5 hours of sleep most days.  That had been no problem when she was a college student, but she'd expected it would kick her ass now.  Perhaps due to her were-stamina, she was able to keep going with very few problems.  Sure, she was tired all the time, but she wasn't falling asleep in class - something she'd never done - but nor did she have to worry about falling asleep while driving - something she had done.

In any case, she had set herself up in the House of Fire common room, her book in one hand, and a pad of paper and her pencil in the other.  She also had some notes about the author, and even some general information.  This stuff was so cool - she couldn't stop soaking it up.  And Miklos was such an awesome instructor.  At least, from her point of view.  He had been a bit grumpy last week, so she hadn't stayed as late, but she was looking forward to tomorrow's meeting.  He was just one of those people whose brain she could pick for hours on end.  There was so much learn.

Sitting back a bit, noticing a cramp in her neck, she realized she'd been down her for over an hour and the ideas were not coming as quickly as earlier.  Time for a snack break.  Rubbing her eyes, and the back of her neck, she pulled the bag of chex mix out of her messenger bag and sat back munching away.  Per usual, she was wearing a pair of denim board shorts and a tank top.  She hadn't been outside earlier either - instead she'd gone swimming in the pool.  Lazily, she watched the rain fall through the window.  Her newest tattoo continued to drive her mad with itching, and she just patted it through the material.  No rubbing - you'd remove some of the ink in the scabbing.  That was very bad.  It was as she was watching the rain fall that she vaguely heard someone enter the room.  Smelled like Frankie, but not.  Then again, lots of people smelled like Frankie in this House.  This was closer, somehow.  Turning to look at the other person, she tilted her head and studied him.  Nope, not someone she knew.

Week Fifteen: Wednesday

Who: Lin and Xander
When: Wednesday Afternoon After Class
Where: Xander's Room

Let’s see…

Monday night at about 8:47pm and it was approximately 4:15 just then…she’d been sober for thirty three hours and twenty eight minutes. A brand new record for the alcoholic author. Not one that she was particularly proud of nor happy with, but a momentous occasions none the less. Maybe she’d even tell her agent; Charlotte would shit a solid gold brick.

With her first day of classes in—good god—four years, over and done with Lin was feeling the craving sharper than ever. In all ways it was almost just like college.

She’d made plans with Xander for that afternoon and they were in the same house, but Lin left first. For one thing she had, lord almighty, books with her which needed to be bitterly deposited back in her own room. Supernatural Races: Fact and Fiction…it sounded like a trivia game. Some part of her own brand of rational suggested she should put notes on the back on little game cards. She’d tacked it on to her schedule since she figured it would be a good idea to know what she was dealing with but…going was still bothersome. Her other class she felt was rather critical. She didn’t want to worry about going berserk and biting some innocent bystander unlike some invasive bastard she knew.

Speaking of supernatural surprises—Xander? Really! She’d had a neat little surety about the world and now this little blast from the past was causing her to sit and think about all the other little rendezvous she’d had in the past. Just how many of those had been members of the soulless damned or furry moon bitches or whatever the hell else.

Damn it all—she hated surprises.

Half an hour after class let out, she’d traded her house slippers for flip-flops and gone down to the male floor of the dormitory. Yep, just like college, she thought for perhaps the ninth time that day as she pounded on Xander’s door.

Week Fifteen: Friday

When: Late
Where: Sam's room
Who: Sam and Kiernan

With her evenings filled with watching Alana, the days seemed to pass by much more quickly. After classes she actually had something to look forward to and even though she always left exhausted, she just couldn't seem to get enough of that little girl. It was painfully obvious that her biological clock had planned to wreck havoc on her system but Alana's presence in her life seemed to mute it a bit. And for that she was grateful. Children were not something she saw in her near future or even distant future as sad as it was to admit. So she would be content taking what she could from that bouncing ball of limitless energy until the day she would have to inevitably walk away. A day she rather not think of.

Today, her time with Alana had been filled with mastering the hand clapping songs and playing hopscotch outside. Easton would be paying for that one later, mark her words. If he somehow thought he was going to get away without having to learn any, he was sadly mistaken. Not that she minded, but it would serve him right telling Alana to teach her all of the songs. Sam was good at memorizing and being silly, but even she had to admit that by the tenth one she was ready to be done with it all.

After she had finished and Kiernan had returned from class, she grabbed her things and headed back to the room. Dinner had been shared with Alana so there was no need to stop anywhere else. This gave her some extra time and it was pretty pathetic that on a Friday night her only plans had been to shower, check her email and pick a new book to read. What Easton had been doing she had no clue, but if she had a guess, he was probably nose deep in a text that would keep him busy for days. Sometimes it was hard for her as the "girlfriend" to be okay with that, but then the "best friend" would step in and remind her that it was perfectly normal and that she shouldn't push because they were still taking things slowly while working it all out.

The amount of time she had spent in the shower was far too long and she emerged slightly wrinkled while smelling of cherry blossoms. After changing into some cotton pajama pants, a tank and a sweater robe that she really could live in, she towel dried her hair and ran a comb through it. Since she wasn't planning on going anywhere, she chose not to dry it and instead let it hang loose and damp around her shoulders. Once she was all good to go, she picked up her well loved copy of Jane Eyre and flopped down onto her bed to settle in and get her read on.

Only about a quarter of the way in, a knock at the door caused her eyes to snap up and a brow to quirk. Prince did a sort of half stir from his bed on the floor but settled back down to sleep. Dog-earing the page, she was bad she knew, she climbed off her bed and moved to open the door. "Kiernan?" The surprise was evident on her face and practically audible thump of her heart didn't go unnoticed. "Is something wrong? Come in."

Week Fifteen: Monday

Who: Sasha and anyone who dares
When: Monday morning (3 AM!)
Where: Zephir common room
What: Swans, brownies, and insomnia

Twas 2 A.M. Monday, when all through Z-House’s within,
Not a creature was stirring, ‘cept some vamps and one djin.
Nutty brownies were nuked in the oven with care,
In hopes of gentling insomnia with sugary fare.

Most Halcyon students were nestled all snug in the beds,
May migraines and cowlicks plague their damn lucky heads!
Sasha in her nightdress, with a plate in her lap,
Perched on the common room couch, feeling chiefly like cr—

Ri-ight.

"These came out way more special than planned.” Sasha considered the half-eaten brownie in her hold with bleak suspicion. Could rhyming be an allergic reaction to walnuts and chewy deliciousness? “Maybe I could get shots—or get shot. Or start heavy drinking every Sunday night. Or finally find a soporific that lasts longer than a lozenge.

The dog didn’t answer because the dog was…sleeping. Innocent and peaceful, Dreizen had folded neatly besides the couch. Worry about his mistress’ welfare didn’t stretch to cover bouts of insomnia and incoherency.

"...bitch." Dizzy didn’t stir.

Sighing with martyr like resignation, Sasha finished her brownie and reached for the remote. It was time to medicate the monster. Unfortunately, her insomnia wasn’t a weakling; drugs and tea, no matter how potent, wouldn’t lull it. The only thing to do was wait and whittle the time away peacefully. Distraction was key. Before that’d translate into a set of drills (that blastedinquartata step) or a heavy bag session (except—ouch—still needed new gloves). The problem with “before”, however, was that it included the luxury of recuperating from an exhausting night by sleeping through the day. Her schedule at Halcyon didn’t offer such indulgence. The diversion had to be mental.

Which is exactly why Sasha had ABT’s Swan Lake loaded into the player. )

Week Fifteen: Tuesday

Who: Alice and Kenzie
When: Tuesday Evening
Where: Alice's Room (eventually)
What: Kenzie is being catty, fo sho!

So Alice had given Kenzie her number and her online nickname, but Kenzie had not the slightest idea to do with either of them. This was probably why it was a week later before he would see her again, because it was only through sheer luck, or fate, whatever, that he happened to be in the same corridor as her at the same exact time of day shortly after dinner.

While Kenzie might not have recognized Alice's smell, he certainly knew her face, so when he saw her, much like Sydni had done the day before, he called out to her, "Alice!", and ran towards her to catch up with her. He was dressed very similar to the way he had been the day before, a pair of dark, tight, straight legged jeans, his black loafers (without laces), though today he wore a nice white button up shirt with a skull and crossbones design embroidered on the pocket and a black and white checkerboard tie hung loosely around his neck. He looked quite fashionable, even if he hadn't the slightest idea what fashionable was even supposed to mean.

"Hi!" He said, offering her a bright smile as he finally managed to catch up to her. "What's up?" He had heard that phrase somewhere, probably from television which he watched more and more of lately. "How are you?" He leaned in to nuzzle his cheek against hers in a show of affection.

Week 15 -- Wednesday Evening -- Log

Who: Jesse and Kenzie
When: Wednesday Evening
Where: Jesse and River's room in House of Fire
What: Jesse and Kenzie make out on River's bed. Nah, just kidding. Kenzie drops in unannounced.

It was a rather warm day and Jesse was rather content to be back in his room. He had gone for a quick evening run and came back to an empty room. Small matter. River was probably working on some art project which meant that Jesse could take advantage of the fact he was completely alone. Cue Risky Business montage! Not quite. Jesse blasted Green Day off his laptop as he got ready for a shower. After he got all the sweat off of himself, he put on some underwear and a pair of loose fitting nike shorts that were black. He chose not to wear a shirt or anything else having found the right temperature. He found that the steam from the shower made the room too humid for his liking so opened up the window and the room door a crack. He used his sneaker to pop the door open.

This was the best feeling in his opinion, a long run followed by a nice shower. His muscles were sore but relaxed. He didn't have to work tonight. And best of all, there was no roommate to bother him and no brownies that were pot brownies lying around in which he could fall victim to again. That would not happen again! And he hoped that no one would find out about it outside Sydni and River. He never felt so stupid in his life after that. It was more funny to laugh at the pothead than BE the pothead. Maybe one day he'll try again when it was voluntary. You know, to be cool and all but never as an accident again. Maybe one day he'll laugh at it. At the moment, he was still pretty sore about it.

After he stretched reaching for the ceiling, he took a seat at his computer as usual and checked his e-mail. Oh, he did tell Diana about his pot brownie adventure and his look into experimenting to which she had something smart to say as always. Not smart in the way of intelligent but just an utter smart ass. She made mention of making it blackmail material but Jesse knew his sister was never that mean. Sure, the two threatened and argued a lot, most was playful. In the e-mail, she asked on more details on Kenzie.

That got Jesse thinking about the animal shapeshifter. They had eaten in the cafeteria and chatted there last week but nothing much else. There was some PDA but nothing much else. Charlie told him to be straightforward with Kenzie. Jesse had yet to take that advice. He thought about that random kiss. It had felt nice after he gotten used to it and got a certain image in his head and he thought about trying it again. But he knew Kenzie didn't have a number to call and he wasn't on the journals.

Oh well, Jesse thought. Now, it was best to focus on happier things like the fact he had the room to himself and he had a good run and a good shower. He'd write the reply e-mail later. Now, it was time to play some... Neverwinter Nights II. That works.

Week 15: Tuesday

Who:  Jillian and Ita
What:  Movies and popcorn
When:  After dinner
Where:  Ita's room

Ita was excited.  The weekend had gone pretty well.  She had cooked dinner for Easton, a cute guy with a British accent, and had made plans with several people online.  Her classes were certainly interesting.  They made her feel closer to her parents, since her parents had always taught her how to use her natural abilities.  She missed her parents a great deal, even if she didn't let on that she did.  And she missed that part of her life, even if she enjoyed being around humans.  It was good to be around other supernaturals again.

Tonight, she was having a movie night with one of the people she'd met online, a newbie like her.  She'd had every intention of doing her homework after her last class, before dinner, and then until Jillian showed up.  However, she'd found a multitude of other things that had to be done right that second, before her guest showed.  Things like, organizing a playlist for the evening, arranging the stuffed animals on her spare bed, sweeping the floor, dusting, etc.  And then there were the food preparations...  She didn't know if Jillian drank, so she made up some virgin daquiri mix, and got out her popcorn popper, and the various flavored powders she had for toppings.  Everything was all set up and Ita decided she was much too excited to focus on homework.  So she put on her playlist and lay down on her bed to read the romance novel she'd picked up.

Even though she was distracted by reading, Ita kept her ears perked for the arrival of her guest.  Soon as she heard the knock, she jumped off her bed and opened the door.  "Hey, Jillian!" she began.  "I'm wicked excited about tonight.  I bought a season of I Love Lucy, since you said you liked old comedies, and then I have my usual collection, too, if you want to see something new.  And, I dunno if you drink, so I made virgin mixers, and I have the popcorn ready to go - just gotta pick a flavor.  I've got spicy, cheesy, garlic, and just plain butter.  What would you like?"  Ita finally took a breath.  The whole time she'd rambled, she'd led the poor girl over to the spare bed to have a seat, and then she'd taken out the various things she'd mentioned.  Ita's whirlwind excitement could be daunting to those who didn't know her well.

Week 15: Tuesday Evening

Who: Xander and Shoko
Where: Dance Studio
When: Tuesday Evening, after the outside cooled off.

Damn the heat and damn ice demons not liking it. That had made things just so needlessly complex. Though, the whole thing about sweating icicles was interesting in the least, it still frustrated him. Not that he would let it show. No, instead, Xander just rolled with things, as he was so often doing these days. She needed someplace air conditioned, and so, he went and found someplace air conditioned. It took a while, but eventually he found just the place.

The dance hall wasn’t in use on Tuesdays. The club met on Wedsndays, so the one day he wanted to have a place to dance with someone was just the perfect place. It was already set up to use for dancing, and there was a lot of open space. And there was nothing easily freezable for when he worked up the little ice demon like he suspected he was going to be doing. He was nothing if not predicable along those lines.

He brought along his little ipod, and a portable docking system for it. They made them nice and small these days so that they were easily portable. He turned on the music, before he settled down into a chair on the corner, and dragged another over in front of his feat. As he propped he feet up upon the second hair, he leaned back and put his hands behind his head as he waited for his little demon to show up. At least the music was worth listening to while he wanted.

Announcements:

The last week at Halcyon saw the addition of several new students but also the departure of some beloved staff members. Diarmad Pádraig, while still working for Halcyon, is not doing so at the school. His specific scouting talents have led him back home to Scotland. His niece, Rebecca has joined him. Rozlyn Hecatomb, though she will be remaining with us at Halcyon, has stepped back from her classes to devote herself full time to her family. For those of you who do not know, Rozlyn gave birth to baby girl, Jayden last month, bringing the Hecatomb brood to five. Best wishes to Roz and Axel and also to big brothers, Xael and Aidan.

Selene Wagner has officially stepped in to teach Bloodlust.

The study group sign up sheets will remain on the bulletin board outside the library. We encourage all students to take advantage of the many opportunities for learning presented at Halcyon, and also encourage the more senior students to reach out to those less experienced. Week Fourteen: Sunday - Narrative

Who: Danny
When: Sunday Night
Where: Around the School
Why: Danny's mood = shit-tastic

Danny had a history with a temper that had a habit of flying off the wall, ricocheting, and annihilating every movable object within arm's reach. Yeah. But he was getting better at controlling it, he hadn't lashed out since he found out he was no longer human (but that doesn't count, obviously everyone would have the same reaction as him and completely demolish their house). And before that, he couldn't remember the last time he had a fit.

For the most part, Danny was a pretty laid back guy (which is what made his temper all the more scary). He accepted most things and got over them quickly. He even accepted the likeness he now shared to a mosquito, how about that? Pretty good, he'd say.

But being a blood-sucking lifeless..sucker, was one thing. Having his best friend, who was more his brother, being a complete bitch to him was a completely different, entirely unacceptable, here-comes-my-fucking-temper, kind of situation. Things were fine and dandy when Danny arrived, but somewhere along the way Charlie began to distance himself and get all pissy whenever Danny decided to confront him. Fuck that.

If there were ever a creed that Danny followed... )

Week Fourteen: Sunday Afternoon

Who: Xander and Alice
Where: Alice’s room
When: Sunday Afternoon
Why: Alice needs a practice partner, and a laugh

It was times like this that Xander was glad that he had quite a selection of clothing. Some might almost consider him a girl just for the sheer variety that he kept in his closet. One never knew what they would have to dress for after all, least that was what he told himself. He also had quite the collection of shoes. Hiking, running, workout, tennis, and formal types, as well the typical flip-flops that went with all beach types.

One of those items included a nearly ankle length leather trench coat that he was putting to good use at that very moment. Pulled around him, it kept him from revealing to every person in both houses just what he was wearing underneath it. After all, the deal with Alice was that he wore it, not that he showed it off to the entire school. That part was convinently left out of the deal. It was not the first time he did some silly stunt like this to get a laugh after all. He had many years of experience being a goofball.

He rubbed the back of his neck as he slung his guitar case over his shoulder. He also grabbed himself a backpack of extra clothing. ‘Just in case’. She might let him change after all, though he doubted it. Especially if she actually kept up her end of the bargain and dressed in that schoolgirl outfit. It would be amusing to see, but she was definitely an interesting character from her actions over the computer.

Getting into Zephir, and up the hallway proved to be less of an obstacle than he had expected. The guard grumbled at him, but let him pass when he explained how he was only returning the girl’s sheet music from their practice the day before in one of the other common rooms. He had been soooo hoping they’d be like the dorm security at UCLA, which was horridly easy to get around.

It would only be a couple of moments after that, that the Incubus knocked on the door to Alice’s room. “Avon Lady, can I interest you in some nice makeup?”

Week Fourteen: Saturday Evening

Who: Xander and Shoko
Where: One of the backrooms of the library
When: Saturday Evening
Why: Xander needs Obi tying lessons.

The school was quite unlike any place he had ever been before. Well, that wasn’t quite true. It was unlike any place he had been that he could remember vividly all the details. Hell was quite like the school in many regards, but unfortunately, he had been so young that many of his memories of Hell were more like specific moments and overall feelings than real genuine memories. There were so many times he just couldn’t quite remember, but that was all right. He knew it was going to be a very long time before he returned to Hell, at least on his own.

He stretched himself out on the bed for a time as he waited for the time to pass. He waited patiently, at least patiently for him, for the time for the ‘appointed meeting’ to happen. Xander had never been very good at waiting. Well, he was good at it, but he didn’t enjoy it much. At least not like this. Out on the water, waiting for that perfect wave, now that was a whole other story. But, waiting for something like this? Oh, no, the boy was always full of too much energy, too much of a lot of things to be patient enough to just hang around.

When at last the time came, he lifted himself off his bed and ran a hand through his hair as he hmmed a bit to himself. “She’s gonna laugh at me, watch it. I just know she is.” And with that, he tucked the box under his hand, one that contained just the Obi, and not the entire outfit. Oh, no, he was going to be getting enough razzing just for going through with it, especially from someone that obviously already distrusted Incubus and would believe his true motivations for what he was doing with Alice.

The trip across the school was easy enough, and he found the proper room quickly enough. He had spent several hours exploring the school the past couple of days, all of which paid off then. When he did finally reach the backroom, he knocked on the door, just in case she was already there, before he pushed the door open and stepped in.

Week Fourteen: Thursday

Who: Kenzie and Serghei
What: Study Buddies
When: After School
Where: Staring in one of the common rooms

Certainly today was a holiday and they were probably the only two people that were actually doing any sort of studying, but they were probably also the only two people that couldn't care less about the day. Kenzie had never known what the fourth of July was and Serghei wasn't from the country who celebrated it. So what better time to focus on their English project than now when the halls were quiet, everyone was distracted, and it would be easier to get where ever it was they decided to go to study.

If asked, Kenzie would have to admit to being quite nervous. It just seemed odd that the one person he had looked at in awe in his English class happened to be the one person that he had gotten assigned to do this project with. They were to do a presentation of the alphabet, that was all the instruction they were given, and they had until the following Monday to get it done. Kenzie already had an idea about what he wanted to do. Hopefully Serghei would go along with it or, if not, have an even better plan in mind.

Miraculously enough, Kenzie had not gotten lost trying to find his way to the common room which was their initial starting point. The directions had been straight forward enough and he had started to find his way about much easier in the past week after so many times having been lost completely. He walked into the room, notebooks in hand, wearing a pair of dark slacks, his black slides and a gray button-up dress shirt with a black sweater vest over top of that. It was the same thing he had worn to class. He hadn't changed, though his hair looked quite a bit more disheveled than it had earlier in the day.

It didn't take him long to spot the other man, then again, Serghei was a hard man to miss, and he crossed over to where he was sitting, clutching those notebooks to his chest. "Hi." He said, and then he slipped into the chair across from the other man.

Week Fourteen -- Friday -- Evening

Who: Jesse and River
Where: Their room
When: Week 14, Friday, After classes
What: Jesse finds the perfect plan for vengeance against his roommate backfires.
Rating: PG-13

Thank God it was Friday, Jesse thought as he headed back from his evening class. This was the best time in the werewolf's opinion. It was officially the period which was furthest away time wise from when he would have to go back to school again. He heaved a sigh as the weight of classes slipped off his shoulders as he walked towards his dorm. The world was now his oyster. What could he do before tomorrow afternoon in which he had to work? Well, he could play some video games or just surf the net. There was always homework, which Jesse snickered as that thought crossed his mind briefly enough so he could make fun of it. Do homework on Friday. Yeah right! No, he would do it either Sunday evening or Monday morning. It all really depended. It depended on how annoying his roommate was. That was a lousy excuse since Jesse could always work on his homework in the common areas but he liked using River as a scapegoat. That was the only thing he was good for in his opinion.

Week 14: Thursday

Who:  Davia and Sydni
What:  An apology, or at least some talking
Where:  Davia's room
When:  After classes

It seemed like everyday this week was going to cause insane amounts of stress for Sydni.  Monday and Tuesday she was concerned about her meeting with Miklos, and Wednesday, the day of the meeting, was nearly unbearable.  Luckily for Sydni, that meeting had gone well, and she had felt better Thursday morning, even after going to see the custodial staff.  At the lunch break, she had checked the journals, and Sydni's heart nearly skipped a beat when she saw Davia had left a message for her.  It only said, "Nevermind", but that was something, and she pounced on it.  The rest of the day she spent nervously contemplating how their talk would go.  Her initial hope had been dimmed somewhat when Davia had said she wasn't about to give second chances.  But still, she was willing to talk, and that was more than Sydni had expected so soon.

Sydni left her last class in a rush - usually she was one of the last to leave.  One of her ways of staying invisible - stay out of the mob of students.  Today she wanted to hurry over to Terrene House and see Davia.  It was a much less happy reason than the last time she'd been to Davia's room, and her heart squeezed a bit.  Hope and fear fought a tremendous battle within her, and while her heart raced with anxiety, she couldn't quell the hope that told her maybe things could fixed, or at least made better, even as she tried to logic herself into a more realistic view.  It really wasn't possible for her to expect the worst, even when she knew it was a possibility.  She was too optimistic.

Luckily, a lot of students were coming in and out of the Houses at this time of day, so Sydni was able to slip in without too much of a hassle, and she wasn't going to a men's floor, so she figured she was golden once she was in.  Her heart continued to race as she neared Davia's door.  She briefly thought that maybe Davia wanted round 2, and perhaps she was walking into another cat fight.  Davia wouldn't do that, she quickly concluded.  She was too sweet.  Much like she'd been too sweet to hit her.  Both times.  Surely she had calmed down from that time, however.  Swallowing her fear, to some extent, Sydni knocked solidly on Davia's door.  Softly, she said, "Davia?"  She didn't realize she was holding her breath, but she was.

Week fourteen: Tuesday

Who: Noah and Summer
Where: Summer's room
When: Tuesday evening

His shoes sounded far too loud on the steps as he worked his way up through the castle to the Aquatic house. Maybe it was the flip or maybe it was the flop but something was echoing far too loudly on the stone walls. Then again, everything seemed a bit too loud as Noah walked toward the other house. It wasn't a fear of getting in trouble for being in someone else's house and a girls floor. If a guard wanted to make an issue of it... Noah could deal with having the conversation that needed to happen somewhere else. He might not be happy about it but picking a fight with a school guard didn't exactly seem like the worlds best life choice.

He'd made enough shitty life choices that he didn't need to add onto that with a fight that easily made the top ten of stupid fights.

Talking with Natalia the night before had helped with his mood. But then again when didn't it? Without her, Noah was pretty sure he wouldn't have lasted as long as he had without some meltdown of epic (and embarrassing) proportions. Life was shitty, Noah knew that, so for the most part he tried to always shake it off. Sitting around wallowing in the shit didn't do anything. But as of late, he'd been finding it harder and harder to just move past it all. He had to because something else would just come down the pike sooner rather than later, it always did. Sometimes it was better, sometimes it was worse but it all had to be dealt with.

So step one on that whole dealing with agenda... talking to Summer again. Talking to her when there wasn't the shock of the whole situation making him a sputtering idiot. He couldn't say he'd be able to control everything he felt, but he didn't have that kind of training he was working hard enough at keeping that whole wild beast in him calm. But he could at least be calm now and not have the whole accusatory damage going on last time. He could only hope she was better off as well...

Something told him that probably wasn't the case though. She hadn't been to football since last Tuesday. Noah had. He needed, no required the physical activity. He'd always done better with the physical, it was words that he struggled with. But more than that, football had always been what he was comfortable with, his safety net. Granted it wasn't the same anymore, not without the prospect of playing like he once had but it was still therapeutic for him. She'd been noticeably absent but he'd just channeled that into a little harder practice. Now he was showered and changed and... just ready to try and make some sense of this whole situation.

Noah worked his way through the hallway until he found her door. He hesitated for a moment before knocking. Well here went nothing.

Week Fourteen: Monday

Who: Cissy and Frankie
Where: Their Room
When: Night
What: Cousins attempting to be cousinly

Baking was not exactly Cissy's forte, but chocolate was certainly in order tonight and it never tasted better than it did in brownie form, especially the ooey, gooey, melty, chocolaty brownies that Cissy had baked. They were still warm when she brought them up from the kitchen, and she had wrapped them in foil and put them near the lamp so they would stay that way. Brownies were best when they were still a bit hot accompanied by a cold glass of milk.

Cissy had thought that Frankie would be back before she was, but she arrived to find the room still empty and that worry set in. What if she wasn't really going to come spend time with her and she was only setting her up just so she could laugh about it with her friends, or with Vinnie? Frankie wasn't the devious sort like that though. So Cissy pushed those thoughts aside and went to take a quick shower.

Dressed in a pair of Victoria's Secret Pajamas, Cissy had her hair pulled up into a loose bun on top of her head, still slightly damp when she returned. Still, there was no Frankie, so she made herself busy watering he flower, which was growing quite nicely but slowly, and then checking her email. She had one from her papa. It made her smile. She was such a daddy's girl that it was hardly even amusing. A few comments were left for some of the friends she had made here as well as a few for her friends that she had left back home, and then the laptop was put away as she pulled out her school books. Homework. She glanced at the clock. Hopefully she would get here before the brownies got cold.

Week Fourteen: Tuesday

Who: James and Natalia
When: Tuesday Evening
Where: Natalia's room
What: James decides that it's time to man up and face things instead of being off in hiding and avoiding the demons from his past at all cost, no pun intended.

James had been thinking about this for a while now, probably due mostly to time spent with Cassandra. She was such a sweet girl in spite of the trouble behind her eyes and even though she had never come out and said anything about this situation, as he hadn't ever really talked to her about it, he could guess what her take on it would have been. Make amends, as best as you could, and go from there. The main problem was that he had no idea how to even begin it and every time he thought about trying, he drew a blank.

And that, along with residual feelings, was the reason why he had shut down every effort, though they were limited, that she had made. But was she even the one that should be making an effort to begin with? That was the question really, wasn't it? And he had to admit that if he were honest with himself, that the answer to that question was no. What she had done, although hurtful, had been the right thing to do all things considered. And if anyone were in the wrong, it was essentially him, regardless of everything else that he had been told, that he believed.

It was all of those thoughts, all of those conversations with himself inside of his head, that had brought him here today. It was late, and he had been waiting for a while, sitting on the hard wood floor outside of her door. He wasn't sure when she would show up. He wasn't even sure that she would be alone. But he hoped that she would be, otherwise he'd look like a complete and utter fool rather than just a small bit of one. He leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes. Another hour, and he would give up and try again some other time.

Week Thirteen: Sunday

Who: Alice and Kristi
When: Very late at night
Where: Zephir Common Room
What: Alice can't sleep and she finally gets to meet her first "supernatural." :O

Alice wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when she arrived at Halcyon. The scout that recruited her had informed her that there would be other students that would be just like her and also other students that would be very different. Vampires, werecreatures, demons and faeries? Was Alice actually going to a school or was she stepping into some crazy horror fantasy movie? When she finally arrived on the school grounds and took a good look around, she was amazed, glad and a little surprised at the same time. Whoever started and ran the school probably had a lot of money considering how huge the place was. She knew she’d be lost in no time. Alice scanned a couple of the students and was glad to see that they didn’t look very much different from her. It would take her a really long time getting used to talking to and being around people if they looked like those monsters in those horror movies she was so fond of.

So far though, the first few hours at Halcyon hadn't been so bad for Alice. It took her awhile to finally find her room when she arrived and then she had to take care of a bunch of unpacking. Now that all the work was done, Alice rolled from side to side on her bed, trying her best to get to sleep. Sadly, the poor girl was just not having any luck and she knew she'd be hating herself in the morning. Alice pushed herself up with a slight huff of frustration and got dressed in some baggy homemade pajama pants and a white tank. Before walking out of her room though, she grabbed her trusty psp just in case there wasn't anything good on tv and made her way towards the common room.

Alice was slightly hoping there'd be someone to interact with, but what could you do? It was already pretty damn late and people did have classes tomorrow, including her. Finding a chair that was situated so that the tv was perfectly in front of her, she plopped down into the soft cushions, bringing her knees up to her chest and resting her chin on them. Now let's see if there's anything worth watching. After a few clicks of the remote, Alice left it on some random infomercial and pulled her psp from her pocket. Time to kick some street fighter butt!
