While the week hadn’t been quite a whirlwind for the Incubus, it had been active enough. In fact, his entire time at the school had been rather active. Except for those few times he forced himself to pull back and not deal with other people. He had enough on the ropes that he knew he could easily lose himself in everything and get utterly sidetracked and not accomplish anything. That happened to him more than once while he was in college, and he refused to let it happen to him now.
But while the week had gone by quickly enough, that Thursday just seemed to lag and drag on. It wasn’t so much what he had planned that distracted the demon, but rather what had been on his mind all week long. There was a song stuck in his head, and it didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Not even onto the paper like he had been trying to do for the past several days. The night before had gotten some progress along, but not as much as he had wanted. And he knew from past experience, until he had at least tried to work it all the way through, it wouldn’t go anywhere but remain and drive him insane.
But when Thursday night came along, he forced it all out of his mind. It wasn’t an easy task, but he had something else to accomplish that night, and he needed to focus on it. He wasn’t quite sure on his skills in the regards of Dream Walking, but he knew he needed to work on it. And having a willing subject he could actually talk about the results with was something he couldn’t quite pass up. Of course, given his general nature and the girl’s skittishness, he was sure she’d be slapping him soon enough. But, it just might be worth it to help refine his talent that little bit more.
Late that night, as he settled himself in his room, on his back upon his bed, Xander crossed his arms over his chest and closed his eyes. As he let his mind reach out toward hers, a slow deep breath left his lungs. It would take several minutes for him to reach the right mindset and sense the dream image that he had been looking for. And, with a briefly held breath, the young demon slipped into the young woman’s dream and stood there for a long moment.
The image of the crows was something that he hadn’t quite expected. But then, he never knew what to expect out of other people’s dreams. He was sure the class would help him on those regards, but then from everything he had heard or read, everyone was always unique in their own mind. But, Xander was quite thankful for the distraction that they provided. After all, it let him sneak in unnoticed, at least for the moment. And with a smile, the demon employed one of the few talents he knew he had inside another’s dream.
When she did notice him, she wouldn’t see Xander at all. Instead, she would see herself walking toward her. Only, instead of her regular clothing, this Cassandra would be dressed in a form fitting sleeveless minidress. "What is with the birds?" her voice would carry across the field as ‘she’ approached Cassandra.
