"Hmnm," Jillian murmured, shaking her head. "But I know what you're talking about. We got a lot of that where I'm from, people mistreating animals. I once took care of a cat that got shot by some jerkoff with a BB gun..." The cat had survived for quite a long time after that. She'd loved him.
Laughing softly, Jillian nodded. "Yeah, kinda like me and outdoors. I like just about everything outdoorsy...I can't limit it to just one or two things."
"I haven't see either of those shows...but I've read that they're good. The girls in my old school really liked them." She chuckled along with Ita. "Yeah, maybe," she teased, laughing softly again.
Jillian was more than thankful when Ita didn't mention anything about her powers. She would have thought that her powers were awesome if she could actually control them. Mind reading would be the most handy thing in the world, especially if you were in a bind. She wouldn't have gotten into the car with that guy if she had been able to tell what he was really thinking. She'd have run the other way as fast as her legs could have carried her and called the cops the minute she hit a phone. As it stood, all she'd been able to do was lead them to where he'd shown her the body of another hiker was and lie to the cops, tell them that he "told" her where he was taking her, where he'd taken the other girl.
"A water elemental? That's really neat," Jillian said, smiling. Finally, something that didn't sound terrifying (though Kate hadn't been terrifying either.) "You can heal? Wow. I'd love to be able to do that. Especially since I trip over my own feet."
