Her eyebrow raised when he started talking about a will. He had had a kid for all of twenty minutes and now he wanted to change his will? Money was something she was just sketchy about. It did funny things to people, and she had never wanted much of it. She did not want her daughter growing up with too much either. It did a person good to work instead of just get, even when they were younger.
He was in that fantasy world right now. Sure, having Kamea was one of the best things in her life, but it was also one of the most tiring and upsetting. No matter how much you loved your child, you always had to put them first. It was a hard thing to do, especially someone like her who was so used to just doing her own thing and not worrying about others. "Just don't make so many so quick. Start with small ones, like promising to take her to the park every so often."
"She allowed at the beach, just not near any animals." she said, knowing he was not really listening. Well, at least he seemed to be invested now. That had nothing on what would be true in a few weeks, but it was nice that he had accepted Kamea right away. A lot of guys wouldn't be so understanding, but she was still worried. Lani was not sure just how much about parenting that Starbuck really understood. It was his first kid after all, and he was not even going to have to deal with as much of the 24 hour attention as there had been when she was a newborn.
"Yeah, all right. But nothing too fast." she said, reaching over and stroking Kamea's hair. "She's a friendly girl, but she doesn't like being away from Mommy too long, especially since she does not have grandma right now either."
