Kids could grow up fine without dads, and it was not like Kamea would have been without a father figure. Mr. Hinjo and Taro both loved the little girl. Sure they were not exactly next door neighbors to Lani's mother, but she had been planning on maybe moving to Okinawa maybe for a few years. Not that that was going to happen now. Still, she would probably go there next break. They hadn't seen Kamea since she was three months old outside of pictures she constantly sent.
"Don't you yell at your mom. I'm the one that made her not tell you. It was my right to be the one to do it." Kai was not about to get in trouble for something that was Lani's doing. Lani was a lot of things, but she was not one of those people who would let others take the fall for her. She hated people that did that. They were kinda scummy.
Following him over, she sat down and folded her hands in her lap. She watched as Kamea reached up and tried to pull on Starbuck's hair. "Well, there's a lot to tell I guess. Found out I was pregnant about three months after I left Hawaii. I stayed there, didn't want to travel pregnant. She was born June 13th. It was an easier pregnancy I guess, I worked up the Hinjo's shop up until the day before."
