This was a reality she would be ready to willingly accept and embrace, as soon as that bit of doubt that reminded her how much it had hurt to lose him the first time dissipated and accepted the fact that this time, she wouldn't make the mistake of leaving. She hadn't found anything without him that couldn't have been discovered with him--only each new thing she learned was tinted with the melancholy truth that she had no one to share it with that truly cared.
His laugh brought an even wider smile to her face. "It's not our fault almost everyone around here has heightened senses and can hear too well," she reasoned. "Besides, this is far more important than anyone's sleep."
"Keen observation," she said to his obvious comment, rolling her eyes playfully. "And I know my way around the building. If they haven't put my old room in use, I might be in it, but after four years I'm sure there's been some rearranging." She placed her smaller hand over the one resting on her cheek. "It would be difficult to share such secrets from separate rooms anyway, and I do believe it would be difficult for anyone to force me to leave your side right now. Perhaps we should retire together and I'll worry about the specifics of my own possessions and the like tomorrow."
