Val was, completely comfortable in the environs in which Selene had requested that they meet. And so too had Cassius, at one time. Before he’d been turned to such a humdrum sort by his present, and current pet. Val’s sort was also Cassius sort, a fact Selene was likely not at all pleased with.
Pity Cassius had allowed the other to get so under his skin. And they thought Val to be the qicked one. Val had never sought to change anyone.
She smiled, a near condescending look as the other denied any concern for appearance. “Of course. I’m certain that outward similarity had nothing at all to do with Cassius’ choosing you.” And here she tugged on her cigarette almost smugly, her eyes nearly dancing in amusement. Let the other keep to her annoyance, it only made Val want to chuckle.
“Had you, then? Interesting you should be so concerned in my comings and goings… I myself had barely noticed yours.” No answer given at all to what she’d decided, or for how long. The answer she did give was a far more interesting one in Val’s opinion. Certainly more antagonistic.
