She knew better than to tell Ray about the way they treated her when she was still living there. Although he had gotten a little preview of it when she told him about their mother slapping her that fateful day. But she knew once he found out about this other stuff, he wouldn’t be so understanding with their parents. Not that she cared what happened to her parents. Oh no, definitely not. She did care what happened to Ray though and she didn’t want him getting into any serious trouble because of them. But she wouldn’t lie to him about it either. If there came a time where he asked or it needed to be said, she’d tell him.
“Yeah, I’m sure some of the guys will be up for going to look for one. If not, I’ll just go look for one myself.” She definitely wasn’t like the two other girls on the time. They probably would not even bother to go look for a batting cage if none of the guys went along. Hell, they probably wouldn’t even set foot outside since it was raining cuz their clothes would get messed up. Why even bother joining a sports club if you’re not willing to get dirty?
“I know. I figured they would look at it that way, but who knows. Maybe they thought we’d be a distraction or something. Well, maybe I shouldn’t say ‘we’. Those girls even distract me, they’re so damn annoying.” She hated when girls like that made the rest of her gender look bad. And yeah, maybe Kim was a bit of a distraction to some of the guys but she wasn’t like those girls and it wasn’t like she was doing it on purpose either.
“You should try it sometime. It’s a good stress-reliever. If you ever wanna try, let me know. I’ll let you borrow my bow.” She was sure he could too. She remembered him running around the house, shooting his slingshot at everything including their older brother. Left a huge welt on his leg once. Kim thought it was pretty damn funny even though the Golden Boy and their parents hadn’t.
“It’s not so bad. We get along fine. Granted, it’s only been four days but I don’t see us having any problems.” Kim had been happy having a room all to herself. It was nice to not have to worry about having anyone else in her way or being in someone else’s way. But there was also the downside of it getting lonely sometimes. And it was nice to have Natalia to talk to. Sure, she had Ray to talk to but sometimes she just needed a girl’s point of view.
