Week Twenty-Two: Saturday Who: Summer and OPEN When: Saturday Night Where: The Rooftop Garden What: Oh how nice it is to be back at square one yet again.
And here she was, back at Halcyon, one of the last places she wanted to be. Or so she had thought.
Being away had been great though the circumstances that had led her away from here hadn't really been so incredible. Her sister was supposed to get married, in Hawaii, of all places, which of course required Summer to get on a plane, something that she hated. Of course, being the drama queen that she was, Autumn didn't even go through with it. The whole trip had been a wash and the entire family was up in arms and then came the news... Danny announced that he was going to Fallujah.
That day certainly ranked in the top two most horrible days of Summer's life. It was impossible for her to just put it out of mind and go back to Halcyon. It was impossible for her to do much of anything at all. She had been a disaster, she was still a disaster if she thought about it for too long, and she hadn't been able to compound that by returning to a place that had nearly driven her insane for the short amount of time that she had been there. Instead, she had stayed in Hawaii, and it was there that she had found what she needed, at least for a little while.
Summer had met a woman that was impossibly beautiful and smelled like chocolate from head to toe. She had the brightest blue eyes that Summer had ever seen and tan, smooth skin. There was an instant spark and it didn't take long for her to figure out why. Iolana was also an empath, and it was that connection that she had felt from the beginning, the spark, the knowingness. And from the very start it was clear that the relationship, if that's what one wanted to call it, was too intense to last. But it wasn't without value.
For the first time in a long time, Summer stood in a place where there were hundreds of people, thousands of thoughts and emotions whirling around, and she heard nothing, felt nothing, that wasn't her own. It was a relief. She had learned more in the few weeks she had spent in Hawaii with a girl who knew her plight than she had in the weeks she had spent here before leaving.
But that wasn't to say that she had decided that this place was without value either. It was just.. she hadn't been ready to be here yet. She didn't even have the basic skills required to be in a place like this. And the shock of coming here to find him.. Well that hadn't helped matters any. But she was ready now. And there was still a lot for her to learn.
Summer had been up here plenty of times, but she had never noticed how beautiful it was up here. The flowers all smelled so nice and the view was fantastic. But fuck all this solitude, it was time to go have some fun.
