Ada also intended to head to Hell after their set to see what all the fuss was about, but for now she was in total focused mode. She spent the time before the show practicing with the others, and then separated from the group so that she wouldn't have to watch Charlie partake in the cocaine she desperately wanted more of. She didn't want Starbuck to see her strung out. Instead, she sat on a couch backstage and tuned her guitar to perfection and then went through and made sure again. She always got quiet right before a show as if saving all of her energy for what was about to happen on the stage.
When the stage manager called them out, Ada seemed almost sleepy, as if she had really needed the jolt of the coke to wake her up. But the moment she stepped out in her cowboy boots, jeans with the knees ripped out, and black tank top and picked her guitar up from where the stage hands had set it, She seemed to come alive, immediately playing a couple of high energy riffs before the introductions.
And then the music started. She was a live wire on the stage. Her voice rarely missed a note, and when it did she was able to make it sound like part of the song. And the bitterness seemed to melt away when it wasn't appropriate, other times her true emotions showed through raw and unfiltered. It was all part of her performance, she put a little bit of glamour in it and a lot of who she really was. There were certain people who seemed born for the stage, and Ada was one of them.
Ada's song introduction was directed at a far worse man than her most recent beau could ever hope to be, but the song still rocked, especially with the fucking prodigy that was this crazy ass drummer, and the bass and backup vocals from Charlie. Yeah, he wasn't Rhett but he did sing better! The set continued and she did her best to engage the audience.
She spotted Starbuck in the audience between songs and felt herself removed from the activity onstage for a moment as she found herself unable to look away for a moment. Luckily, Suoh counted them in LOUDLY and she snapped back into reality, launching into Kerosene, putting out of her mind the fact that those lyrics particularly stung in repect to the current situation.
