Cassandra's smile was infectious and he couldn't help but return it. "Offended? Of course not. I just hope you'll take them off before it gets to the point of blisters." The whole mentality that pain equalled beauty was a bunch of crap and while he could appreciate her choice in footwear, he didn't want to hurt herself. Heels were sexy, he was a man and he could admit that much but there were other things that were equally as sexy and he could live without if he had to.
Max smirked but shook his head. "A magician never reveals his secrets." As if to say that he had simply pulled the vehicle and driver out of thin air. Though perhaps he did? One could never tell on an island meant for supernaturals. As he watched her scoop up the flowers, he couldn't help but feel a bit of satisfaction come over him. So far everything was being received just the way he had hoped.
"Don't worry, I'm not a big fan of snails either." People claimed they tasted like chicken but Max couldn't agree. Not only was the texture off, but there was no way those things tasted even remotely close to chicken. "There are far more better options when it comes to French cuisine, trust me." Especially their desserts which he was sure she would get a kick out of since she was the baker and all.
When her body slid against his, he casually extended his arm and draped it over her shoulders. That definitely made the ride into town more pleasant. Unfortunately the journey didn't take all that long and the door was being opened for them far sooner than he would have liked. Once out of the car, he offered his arm and escorted her into the restaurant. Having called ahead, they were whisked back to a private table for two where yet another bouquet, this time lilies, awaited her.
Champagne was poured into two crystal flutes the second they were seated and he smirked at her over the candlelight. "I had them translate the menu for you because I wasn't sure if you could read French." Max was by no means fluent in any way but like a true male, he knew enough when it came to either starving or ordering something completely disgusting. That and his mother had insisted on it for when they travelled. Occasionally her pushy nature did come in hand.
