Was it too soon to finally take a breath and attempt to relax? Cassandra wanted to say yes to that question, wanted to try and put it all behind her but it wasn't as simple as all that unfortunately. Jack... or Mircea as she'd found out he went by at this school was still there and she was too wary to be convinced that his presence meant nothing to her. It didn't matter if she tried to not be so bound by her cautiousness that she couldn't live anymore... there were some things that were just too large to be discarded completely.
She didn't want to be burned in that way twice.
She was always conscious of who she was around and Cassandra knew she'd spent far too much time cooped up but it felt safe. And so far that had been a rare feeling. Rare as it might have been it wasn't impossible to find, except for when she was with Max. It had surprised her and worried her at first. To put that much stock in someone she had only known for a short time in the grand scheme of things. But she couldn't shake the feeling that it was just right. The impulse was just too strong to deny.
So relaxing and spending time with Max it was. She'd even gone out with Sam to find something to wear considering her wardrobe of nice dresses consisted of one other dress that had already been worn several times and while Cassandra didn't care either way when it came to over-wearing a piece of clothing, it just seemed right to have more than one thing she could wear out to a dinner. And... if she wanted to be entirely honest she did want to look pretty. She'd nearly buried her head in the sand when that realization made itself known. Seemed petty in the larger picture but it was the case regardless.
Cassandra had decided on a simple black dress and brushed her hair until it crackled, letting it fall loose over her bare shoulders. She'd put the earrings he gave her on and hooked the bracelet around her wrist, the necklace she always wore around her neck. Picking up a shawl to slide over her shoulders if she felt the need for the covering Cassandra looked over at her clock. Oh only a minute until she was supposed to meet him! Low slung heels that Cassandra was certain might kill her by the time the night was over were pulled onto her feet and she hurried out of her door.
She careened down the stairs and out of Zephir House. Barely keeping her balance on the shoes that took a little getting used to, she spotted Max immediately. Smiling broadly she walked over towards him. He looked so handsome and relaxed standing there, she'd be lying if she said her heart didn't skip a beat. "How handsome do you look. New shoes?" She asked grinning.
