They should know her better, having raised her for 18 years of her life. At the revelation of what happened to her father, Ita couldn't hold back a small cry as she covered her mouth. It was as horrifying as her nightmares, and she involuntarily protected herself by pulling the water out of the air and soaking herself. She would not be sleeping tonight. Squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to hold back tears, but a few squeezed out. Shaking her head, she opened her eyes and gave a very weak smile for Fisher, to show she was ok.
Of course she knew that even the good guys lost. Look at her parents. But she couldn't let herself think about that. Just maybe she would succeed. "Oh, Mom, I won't. You know I can't stay focused on anything for too long." She smiled tearfully at her joke, and then continued. "I just... I won't give up looking until I know. I have other things to do, too. You know, find love, have children." Smiling wider, she finished with, "I'm going to live my life, even while I remember yours. I'm happy. You-you can move on..." The last part was choked; they'd never been religious, so she didn't really know where they moved on to.
