"Every pendulum loses momentum, though. What happens when it ceases to swing? Surely humanity can't keep it's pace." Mircea was rather pleased with his grasp of her analogy. He was bitter and didn't believe in the goodness of people solely based on the fact that he'd seen far more evil and injustice than he ever had goodness. Hell, he'd been a party to some of the evil and injustice he'd witnessed.
Mircea shook his head. "The deeper the water, Sydni, the easier it is to drown. The same goes for emotions. If you keep your emotions shallow, it is far easier to swim than sink. If they are deep, the best you can do is tread water, and even the strongest cannot keep that pace up for long." He reached down into the sand, plucking out a shell that he considered for a moment before he tossed it aside and then brushed the sand off of his fingertips. "Take as many risks as you like, just do not set your heart upon them." He laughed softly. "I do not believe you breakable Sydni. If you were, you would have fallen to all of those injuries you seem to get around me."
