Aimee was a chameleon in some ways and unchanging in others. She followed all the new discoveries and admitted where her beliefs had been wrong (who would have thought that the continents actually moved, after all?) but the essence of her stayed the same. She was still the same intuitive, intelligent, and ever-questioning Aimee with her unstoppable confidence, easy smile and quick wit. The smile had faded over the time she and Miklos had been apart, but had returned to her lips now.
Their kiss might have lacked the obvious needy desperation that young couples overcome by lust displayed, but it meant far more. The time apart had not tarnished their love, it was still as sweet and easy as it had ever been before.
This was a side of him she doubted many had seen but her, and Aimee cherished the moments when he was soft like this because she knew he showed this aspect of himself sparingly. "Perhaps you should let me see so I can compare," she said playfully, an impish smile on her lips as she moved closer to begin unbuttoning his shirt slowly.
