Starbuck was shocked out of his trance-like state and actually slipped a little as a result, but he managed to stay on his feet. He laughed a little at his clumsy self. "Uh... not really. I just... you know... enjoying the rain. Feels great, doesn't it?" He wasn't sure she felt the same about water, and if not, it would be impossible to explain. He'd often wondered if that's why things didn't work out with Ada, if it was the reason he felt so close to Kat instead. The water pulled at his soul constantly, and it helped to be with someone who understood that connection.
He looked her up and down after a moment, noticing the cleats. "Looks like you came prepared for battle. So... rules. Touch football is lame, especially in the rain. Tackle only." He pointed to some landmarks on either side of them, "Those are the end zones. Not a hundred yards, but it'll do just fine for just the two of us, don't you think?"
Realizing he was calling a lot of shots, he paused, "And uh... whatever rules you want to establish. I'm game for whatever, just wanna enjoy being out here, you know?" He had been cooped up a bit lately, spending most of his time either doing homework or playing with Kamea.
He was looking after her this evening. Right now was her nap time, then she had mommy time. So far things were working out perfectly with the scheduling stuff. He and Lani had managed to divide up their time with Kamea so that she got to see each of them plenty, and they sometimes arranged activities that involved all three of them. He was fairly sure he and Lani could never be a couple, but they did a good job of parenting together just the same.
