Yes she was giving up. The alcohol was really starting to go to her head now and if Xander wasn't around to help keep her afloat, she probably would have just let herself sink to the ocean floor. She liked playing around in the water, but she'd remind herself that next time she got drunk at a beach, she'd stay out of it. Maybe not entirely, but she'd make sure she stayed in the shallow end at least. That way there was no worrying about trying to stay afloat.
Alice smiled as she felt his arms wrap around her and she nodded in reply. Was she really singing that loud? She didn't think so, but then again, she was drunk. Her eyes were practically half closed now and her brain was clearly not working properly since she decided to give Xander one last splash before she made a break for it. It was a bad idea because as soon as she started to swim away, her head started to spin and made her swim back to shore a difficult one. It didn't help that her heart was beating rapidly and her teeth were chattering because it was so cold now.
The faster she got to shore, the faster she could dry off, but Alice was struggling now. She was almost about to give up until she felt the soft sand under her feet and she sighed in relief. She was finally able to stand in the water herself and she took that moment to catch her breath. Wrapping her arms tightly around herself, she took a few deeps breaths as she stood there with her head tilted back and her eyes closed. She was shivering now and if she would have been sober, she would be telling herself how stupid she was since she knew should end up getting sick soon.
