WHO: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger WHEN: March 1st, 2001 (afternoon) WHERE: Ron and Hermione's flat SUMMARY: Ron and Hermione celebrate Ron's 21st birthday! RATING: PG-13? WARNING(S): TBD STATUS: Complete
Ron had always loved his birthday. It was his favourite holiday aside from Christmas, and yes, he considered his birthday a holiday. And it wasn't because of the presents or anything that he enjoyed it so much. It was beind surrounded by family and friends and feeling so loved that made it so special to him. It was the one day a year where the family would get together on his behalf and it felt nice.
As planned, Ron left the flat around ten that morning to run his "errand". He figured if he returned by noon it would give Hermione plenty of time to bake the cake she said she was going to make. He hadn't told her where he was going or what he was doing because well, he couldn't. Truth was, he'd been saving up for a ring to propose to Hermione for a while and he was almost ready to buy it. So, that morning was dedicated to browsing various ring shops to find just the right one for the woman he loved.
He went to what seemed like hundreds of shops and although they had gorgeous rings, none of them really seemed to suit Hermione. It wasn't until he was passing by a jewelry shop in Diagon Alley did he spot the perfect ring in the window. Throwing the door open and running inside, he quickly pointed out the one he wanted and ordered one in Hermione's size, specifying an inscription to go on the inside. He'd have just enough time to save the last bit of money before the ring was ready to be picked up.
He'd figured out the perfect way to propose too. Hermione would be blown away. Or, at least he hoped she would.
Heading to that Italian place to pick up lunch, Ron got them an assortment of dishes before apparating just outside the flat and opening the door. " 'Mione, I'm back!" He called into the kitchen, shutting the door behind him with his foot.
