Sadie's eyes went from very slightly narrow to too wide to be missed, especially since in her youth, they were slightly too large for her face. At least he said he had no interest in 'fighting', but Jesus-god how she knew that could be a lie. Hell, his whole presence screamed 'liar' to her, but that's only because she knew exactly how that mind worked, fresh into the Haze. Their existence was nothing but lies - as long as you wanted to survive. And fortunately, Sadie's survival instinct was stronger than her desire to end it all in those first couple months.
Her face pinched up contemplating both his age and whether or not she should answer the question - with or without a lie. She'd never seen another vampire here, she didn't know how the change worked with the elders. But if he was going by Sharpe, that gave her an idea.
"I came here 'cause dere weren't no vampires - dey keep'em out. ....'cept fer me." She had to add that last part because, well, the logic kind of required it. "And fer good reason. I heard what happened back in'a day - so whats'a good reason why dey lettin' Sharpes in now, eh?"
Then she added quickly, and not with any defiance.
