Hermione blinked. The almost offer of help was somewhat unexpected. While she didn't doubt for a moment Lucius Malfoy would make such an offer to Draco, she hadn't expected it for herself. Then again, he did cut himself off with a shake of his head. Perhaps he simply spoke without thought. She knew he didn't like her and would most likely prefer to have as little to do with her as possible without damaging his ability to see his grandchildren. Hermione sighed. She could use his help, at least a little, considering he probably knew exactly who she'd need to speak with to iron out her problem with the Customs Office.
"Would you happen to know the best person to speak with in International Magical Cooperation to work out a problem I'm having with the Customs Office?" she asked, squaring her shoulders and meeting his eyes. "Or the name of a witch or wizard at the Chinese Consulate that I might speak with to arrange to have a parcel sent via diplomatic channels to Master Chen Li would be a great help."
