Who: Fredrick Eichmann
When: Monday, September 13th 6:00pm
Where: Every home and building in Green Life
Rating: PG
Summary: Fredrick Eichmann makes his second address to the Green Life citizens with the news of a few changes.
Warnings: None

A few weeks after his first public address, Fredrick Eichmann once again takes center stage in Green Life. At 6:00pm when evening had begun to set in and residents were leaving their places of work, puttering around town, or curled up in front of their televisions; Eichmann’s voice was suddenly heard everywhere. Whatever show residents were watching on their televisions was interrupted and replaced by the image of Eichmann. Many discovered immediately that changing the channel made no difference. He appeared in every screen in the community center and barely noticeable speakers that had been installed on the exterior of various buildings flared to life.

The image on the screen was almost identical to that of the previous address. Eichmann was sitting at the same desk in front of the same window; the image of the sun setting just over his shoulders giving him an almost surreal air. He was wearing another suit, this one charcoal gray, and once again he was sporting a genial smile. Other than the change of clothing, anyone not especially familiar with the man would not have noticed any real changes at all. But for those who worked closely with him, the shift was obvious.

Quite opposite to his friendly smile, there was a coolness to Eichmann’s pale eyes. The hands he rested on top of his desk were clasped together so tightly they were going white around the knuckles. Above all else there was a stillness to his body; if he wasn’t blinking he would look very much like a statue. He was so still it was as if he was trying very hard to keep something inside. Those around him knew what that something was; anger.

Still, he smiled when he greeted his audience. “Good evening, Green Life residents. Again I am interrupting your regularly scheduled programing to speak with you. I wanted to first let you all know that I have been keeping a close eye on your progress and almost everyone has been doing very well. The gardens are in wonderful order and I have seen that a sense of community is beginning to be established.” He paused, only long enough to take a breath but his smile was suddenly gone. “But unfortunately, a select few rules are continuously being broken. I want to remind you all that the rules of Green Life are all in place for a reason. Without these rules, the community we all should be attempting to create will fail. That is something that cannot happen. I will-”

Eichmann cut himself off there. He must have noticed that by then end, the calm tone he was speaking in had changed and an obvious touch of anger had slipped through. There were even spots of color on his cheeks and his knuckles had gone completely white. The loss of control only lasted a brief second, not incredibly noticeable but it still happened. His features were immediately smooth again, earnest and holding a tangible thread of disappointment.

“We cannot let that happen. We cannot let this opportunity for a better world slip through out fingers. So, in the interest of reaching our goal with Green Life, there will be some changes. Curfew will now be set at 10:00pm instead of 12:00am, meaning that if you are outside of the community after 10:00pm you will be locked out. There will also no longer be any shopping of products outside of the community, at least when it comes to things that are being brought in. The guards will be performing searches on return trips.”

Almost out of nowhere, Eichmann’s usual warm and open smile returned. “Please do not take these new rules as a bad thing, think of them simply as a precaution. There is no need to worry because there is no doubt that these simple tweaks will bring us the order we all enjoy. And now, residents, I return you to your programing.”

And then he was gone.
