The summer was ending and Francesca hated that fact. But she had been thinking lately that perhaps she would say in Athens over the winter. It really was a beautiful city, and she had heard the winters where mild enough for her liking. Sure she would miss the girls, but it wouldn't have been the first time she left the girls for an extended period of time. They would understand.
But those where another thoughts for another time, now it was time to enjoy the feeling of the sand between her toes, to love the feeling of the sun on her skin as she walk along the beach. She smiled as the waves lapped up the shore just enough to roll over her feet. She had always loved the ocean. She ran her fingers through her hair, which the humidity had turned perfectly curly and bouncy. The sun glinting off her gold lame string bikini as the ocean breeze played with the transparent white gossamer fabric of her extra long robe as she walked along the beach.
Since meeting Brenna things had been feeling a tad more complete to him. Kane couldn't explain it, but since their first meeting, looking down upon Athens together he'd felt like he'd found something that had been missing in his life. He just couldn't explain it. The world had come together to give him something he probably didn't deserve and he was going to hold on to it with everything he had- everything. When Kane saw the blond walking along the beach from his vantage point, sitting on the brick wall at the top of the small hill of sand near the parking lot all of that... it didn't exist anymore.
Kane hated the beach- with a passion. Sand getting into every part of your body, being forced to wear two-plied underwear that made a 'shh shh shh' sound when you walked. He shivered to even think about it. Yet here he was... at the beach... in dark jeans and a t-shirt w/sports coat- clearly not 'beach garb'. Who knew what had drawn him there that day, but he knew what was drawing him to stay.
Fancy wasn't sure what drew her blue eyes up the coast line, but it what was obvious what was keeping them there. The man sitting on the low wall in a sports coat seemed almost painfully out of place. This caused the blond to stop in her tracks and push her large Jackie-O sunglasses into her blond curls. And across even the distance when her blue eyes met his she was almost knocked off of her feet when the vision hit her.
She still had her wedding dress on, but her eyes where not on her new husband but on another man standing in the corner. A small wink, a knowing smile and when plenty of Dionysus' wine had been had by all she saw her chance to slip out un-noticed. Lips crashing together as if the pair could eat each other whole, fabric ripping, strong hands running over her.
The vision only lasted a fraction of a second but it left chills running down her spine. She took a few steps towards the sitting man.
Kane stayed upon the wall, his eyes never moving toward her. He smiled softly as she started toward him- somehow knowing she would. She would come all the way to him. He knew that- somehow. But it took everything t not launch off the wall and run to take her into his arms.
And she did walk up the sand completely towards the man, something within her moving her forward. Normally she let the man come to her but this, this was difference and she needed to go to him. To be under his control. When she was only a few steps away she stopped and looked him over. Not saying a word. She didn't think she needed to speak what was happening was beyond words.
"Hey." He said, after a long moment of staring at her. She stood there in the magnificent glow of motherhood, holding a beautiful little girl in her arms as two winged boys ran around her ankles. And she was the most beautiful. Another mother vision? What was wrong with him?
His gaze pierced her soul, but after a second "Bonjour," was able to make its way out of her pink glossed lips. Visions rolling over her like the ocean waves, one right after another unrelenting and powerful. Just like him. she closed her eyes for a moment before looking back up at him deep voice, whispering in her ear, strong hands soft as he touched her 'and you will be my glorious queen' he promised as he kissed her ear her heart pounded in her chest. "I'm Francesca" she was finally able to say.
That wasn't right. "Kane." He said holding his hand out for hers- that was wrong. "A pleasure." Her eyes, her lips, her skin, her breasts, it was a wonder he was managing to hold his composure. It was a wonder that the man felt more than just a physical attraction to her, he thought he'd found his soul mate the other night in Brenna, he'd been wrong.
"No," she actually before she could think of the words before they came pouring out of her mouth "That’s not right." her voice soft, but confused as Fancy gave the man her hand, letting it's small shape be engulfed by his larger hand. Electricity burred through her core the moment her skin touched his. Pleasure ripping though every pour just at a touch. She inhaled deeply.
He leaned his head down and kissed the skin a top her hand. It was so smooth and... "More than a pleasure." Kane said as he gently turned over her hand in his and ran his fingers over her palm up from her wrist. "Where have you been all my life?" He hadn't mean to say that aloud, clearly he was more suave than that but his emotions started wreaking havoc the moment she came into his sight. His calm and cool collected self was falling madly for this woman he'd only know mere seconds. Love at first sight?
She trembled as he kissed the back of her hand; she had never felt this before this full, strong, complete feeling. Was this love? The feeling she had though herself unable to truly experience in its entirely. She only knew his name and yet every fiber of her wanted to be with him, to cater to his needs. "Looking for you." she was able to whisper, because it would be true, her entire life she had been looking for this man.
Lying beside her, she slept soundly. Body perfectly curled around his form. The blanket half covering her soft skin. He brushed her hair away from her face and she stirred, that smile up at him as they snuck around for moments like these. "Found me." He couldn't resist, it was like a hook was connecting them and pulling them together, it was almost painful to not get closer. Kane's hand slid up her arm and under it to her back. He pulled her close to him until their bodies were all but touching. Instead of kissing her he raised a hand to her face and brushed his fingers over her hair. "My queen." He whispered from some lost part of his soul as he looked into her eyes.
She tilted her head up towards him as he pulled her close sure she strayed, they both did. but the important part, the true part was that they always came back to each other. and he would hold her, and protect her and love her. and she would love him more then any other, and she would always stand by her side "Finally." she breathed in a sigh of relief, a smile spreading over her lips as she looked up at him "I've been to long with out you." she said honestly knowing that her soul needed this man. her heart needed this man "My King"
Images dances across his mind; places he'd never been but seemed so familiar to him, battles he'd never fought but he knew every blow, lovers he'd never seen between his sheet but he could taste. It had a dizzying effect on him. He knew power, and glory, love and humiliation. It was... Kane let out a deep breath and slowly fell back against the wall that caught him and kept him standing. "What on earth..." He closed his eyes for a long moment as everything faded back into oblivion slowly now that she was at arms length again
Fancy gasped as he fell against the wall her hands naturally going to him "Are you ok?" she asked sincerely though her own visions. She brought courage from someplace within her "Are you having visions?" she asked breathy surprised in herself, she had never spoken of her dreams before.
His eyes opened slowly to cast upon her. "Nothing like that." He breathed. A hand reached out to find her cheek. "Like so many... a lifetimes worth all at once." Kane could feel his heart racing in his chest. "A bit overwhelming I must admit." Which was a big thing for him to do.
She melted under his hand, her skin tingling where he touched her. Her hand slowly moved onto his chest just above his heart, she could feel it pounding though his chest. "I know what you mean." she said softly looking up at him her lips only a breath away from his face as her eyes closed as she took in his deep musk almost drowning in the feeling of familiarity. her mighty king, her strong lover
The flood came back at her closeness, at her touch and he didn't want it to go away this time. All the pain and sorrow was worth it when mixed with the joy, love and power. He pulled her onto him, closing their gap and taking her lips into his. His arm encircled her waist as his lips parted and head tilted to deepen their kiss. The strong man almost had tears in his eyes at the way her skin felt under his fingers and her lips felt against his caused him so much pleasure it actually hurt. How could one woman do this?
She gasped into the kiss, astounded at the need of the kiss the hunger of the kiss. She wanted nothing more then to be in his arms, to have all of her skin pressed against his. She had never felt a need so intense before. Her skin burned in pleasure where he was touching her. And it was beautiful. Truly beautiful that it actually brought tears to the blonds eyes. And as much as it pained her she pulled away from the kiss to look at this man, this man who stirred her soul in a way no man ever had before. "Who are you?" she asked breathily, as if he could tell her why he had this effect on her.
Kane- that was wrong- shook his head. "I'm... I'm not sure anymore." He said with a slightly chuckle. "I knew who I was when I woke this morning despite all these... strange goings on." Meeting Brenna and finding a lost piece of himself, meeting the man in the bar and finding such random hatred and jealousy of him, the man in the bathroom who he could have well lost his life to when he couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger... they had all been so strange, combined with the damn journal he'd done a pretty good job of ignoring and the visions- oh god, was this delayed PTSD? "But you make me question it all." His eyes shook beneath the dampness as he looked her over, his hand reaching up to touch her face again but only hovering just out of reach.
There was a name for him, someplace under the avalanche of visions. His name. His identity. But also her identity, it was tied to this man. His hand hovered above her cheek and she couldn't do anything but move her head into his hand. The touch bringing more tears to her eyes "I don't know who i am anymore either." she admitted "but i do know that you move my soul, my heart."
"Well, I guess we'll just have to figure out who we are together." It was a mess of thoughts, memories, emotions that were all not his own and they were incredibly confusing to sort through, but there -was- a name. "Desi." He whispered softly, unsure where it actually came from but it was the clearest thing in his head.
Her head felt cloudy, as if she had been living in a fog. But then as he said her name it cleared. My Despoina, Desi, listen to me and everything opened within her, flooding her. "My Aphneios." she gasped "insatiable in battle, blazing like the light of burning fire in his armour and standing in his chariots, and his running horses trampled and dented the ground with their hooves . . . And all the grove and the altar . . . were lighted up by the dread god, Ares, himself and his armour, and the shining from his eyes was like fire . . . " She breathed before kissing his lips hungrily.
Aphneios? Ares?- Ares!? It only mattered for a second as the world rushed away at her kiss, emotions coming as tides, waves over him. She was love, his love, his trophy- no. She was more than a trophy; she was the holder of his soul. He hummed out of the kiss slowly. "Oh Desi." He whispered, pulling her close in an embrace, his head resting lovingly next to hers. "My Venus, my Aphrodite, how I've missed you so." Kane wasn't speaking anymore, there was something- someone using his words. The flood of memories were forming into a personality, a person. How could this have happened? Was this complete stranger who he'd been drawn across the city to a key to all the questions raised by the woman inside the journal? All the reasons he never felt quite apart of his family, and all the reasons he was drawn to do what he was doing- was she really all he needed to find answers?
Transcendent, that was how she felt as he held her close to his chest. And finally she understood. She understood it all, everything. Why she was the way she was, why she had felt like she had been searching her entire life. Because she had, she had been looking for him, longing to have him, to hold him and most importantly to love him. she tilted her face up towards him. "As I have missed you" she countered fresh from battle, the blood on him still warm, the hunger still in his eyes mirrored in her own. Tonight, he would come to her bed, tonight he would be hers and she would be his and the very ground would shake under their love She was Aphrodite, she was beauty, she way love, but more then that, she was his. "My love, my king." she cooed her hand moving up to hold his strong jaw.
"My..." But she wasn't his queen, something had gone wrong. He tried to sort through the thoughts, the feelings the memories and it angered him that he couldn't peg right on what was wrong. "Things are different." He said softly, putting his hand to her face and walking around her in such a way that she turned with him, looking at him until their positions had swapped. "You're different.. I'm different." He felt... scrawny, strong but it wasn't nearly the same. Ares' leaned forward slightly, forcing her to rest up against the wall as his hand leveraged him in a tilt above her on the same wall. "Oh Desi, how did I ever loose you?" He asked, tilting his head as he brushed his fingers along her cheek.
She orbited him like the moon to the earth, always facing that which held her gravity. And things where different, and the goddess was almost sick with her mortality, she could feel it under her skin like a disease. She had always felt beautiful, but now she revolted herself this body didn't even share 1/10th of what she knew was hers to have. But it wasn't just her, Ares was wrong as well, shorter and thinner through the shoulders. Her hand moved to run over his bicep. This was not her War God. And yet looking into his eyes she knew it was. "I don't know." she said honestly "I don't know what happened." she said shaking her blond locks her blue eyes searching his for answers to questions she didn't know yet. "Oh, Aphneios!" she nearly cried in anguish and confusion as memories slammed into her conscious. "I’ve been so lost with out you."
As he looked upon her it all came back, their love, their fight, the battles they fought together and the love they'd made. He smiled a little as he remembered their children, oh gods what had happened. "Rhea..." He said after a long moment. It made sense, she had been writing in the book, were all the other authors like them, did she have- "Tell me... and this may sound crazy my love, but do you have a journal?" He hadn't met any of the other authors- so far as he knew- and hadn't spoken about it with anyone, but it would make sense... right? His two minds fought, the mortal thinker with the mythical doer debating on who was going to take over.
She needed " Yes, I Do." but when he said that name, the name of that horrible woman It all flooded back to her. she hardly had time to sit in her throne, her hand in his when the disappearances where noticed, and then... Nothing it was blank. Erased. Anger flushed his cheeks. "She did it! She sent us here! Weak and powerless! Mortal" the last word dripping off her tongue as if it left a bad taste in her mouth "She wrote it plane as day," she said remembering her last entry "i didn't think much about it at the time when i first read it. But she is flaunting the fact that she sent us here in our faces!" anger seethed through the small blond. How could this have happened to her? To them? It had taken so long, it had been painful but they had won! And that bitch stole it from them!
She was right, he remembered the war, fighting against his father and finally gaining the power of the kingdoms. He remembered the look on his mothers face as he placed his beloved on her throne instead of her and how that had made him very happy. "Your face is beautiful, not matter the incarnation." He told her, running his hand over her ear and leaning into kiss her again. Ares could feel the sparks shooting between them. "I will get you back on your throne." He whispered after pulling his lips from hers with only a sliver of a gap between them.
Her anger settled at his words, he always knew what to say to calm her, not matter what had happened. Even when he killed her plaything. Her king did not make feeling of contention grow within her chest like he did with others; instead he soothed her soul, only ever feeling real peace when in his bed. his kiss electrified her, filled her body to the brim with pleasure but left her with a hallow hunger in her stomach for more, she needed him more. "We will regain what is rightfully ours." she 1/2 corrected. His breath was warm and heavy on her moist lips, she could do nothing more then kiss him again hungrily.
