The light coming from the street lamp was lit just so that Linus was able to see his self reflected onto the window of a shop that had closed several hours earlier. He thought he looked excellent, like a real fashionable man. Everything from white form fitting t-shirt, his black skinny jeans, the thin black suspenders and even his black and white checkered slip on vans made him look like a man who cared about how he looked. At least the people in Greece it seemed cared about how they looked and how others looked. After all the streets seemed to be swarming with beautiful people.
Linus headed onward, away from the distraction his own reflection had caused, occasionally patting down his back right pocket to make sure his wallet and cell were still safe. He was not a habitual club goer, but how could he pass up the opportunity in this wonderful city. He glanced at his watch. It was a quarter past twelve. At least in the United States that is when clubs started picking up… or was it around one? He couldn't really remember. In any case according to the websites he had searched, the club he was going to was the hottest in the city, at least to Linus's own standards.
After a bit of a walk, he was relieved to hear what was undoubtedly music booming from the club, and even more so when he found a small line of people being let in. He had made it at a good time. He reached in his back pocket for his wallet prepared to show his ID, putting it back almost immediately as he was let into the club sooner than he had expected, not even needing it.
The music made it almost difficult for Linus to hear himself think. He stood in one place not too far from the entrance taking in the surroundings. It felt like any good American club, save for the music having an electronic flavor to it. By far the best difference was, that here Linus didn't feel nervous like he might back home. He didn't know the language; all he could do was let his body do the talking, this, he assumed would make dancing easier, and more enjoyable.
With that he stepped further into the club, patting down his back right pocket once more. The air looked thick from the lighting mixed with the heat coming off of bodies as they danced. Linus squeezed his way to the bar. The dancing would come, but first he would have to check out the masses, and there was no better place to do it.
He shouted water in English to the man working the bar thankful he was understood. With the bottle in his hands he turned around in his seat, combing the heaps of bodies with his eyes for someone to catch his interest. He had the bottle pressed to his lips ready to take a sip, but instead was frozen on the spot. He had found it, surely the most beautiful man in the room, if not person. It was as if there was a light shining down on the man's angelic face. Oh how he wished he had his video camera. Then Linus realized there was indeed a light on the other man, he watched as the spotlight flickered into a new direction. He laughed at himself and took his sip of water. Again his eyes fell on the same person, even without the light. He looked so… natural, like an expert -Shit! He caught me staring…or did he? Linus shifted his eyes and took a sip of his water, waiting to seem casual, in case he had really been caught staring, which he didn't think he was. I'm just paranoid. He slammed his bottle on the bar wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. This was stupid; he was acting like a little girl. It was dance time.
He slid his way through the dance floor stopping when he felt a small pair of hands on his hips. He grinned at the girl who had decided to make him her partner for at least this song. He started moving with the music, forgetting to think about anything, just feeling the rhythm… until… That face! Again! Linus caught himself staring again and this time when the other looked... or at least looked his way, he gave a small sideways smile. He turned around, slowly, again wanting to seem like it was natural, in case there was eye contact made. There were lots of other smiling faces. He laughed lightly turning his attention to his current partner. It was stupid really…he could have been looking at anyone, or no one, or anything, or nothing.
The music rocked a body to the core and Adam could feel the beat in his bones as his partner and he moved to the rhythm. His eyes did indeed catch the strangers for a moment before the man's face turned way. It made Adam laugh a little as one of his hands moved from his partners hips to brush through his damp hair. The girl in turn reached up to touch his chest, causing what felt like sparks to shoot across his skin under his tight grey printed t, her other hand looped a finger around the belt loop of his tight jeans. His eyes once again caught the eyes of the stranger, who had his own partner and he smiled. The lights above them panned across the floor, illuminating the man for a moment before he returned to darkness and for a split second he seemed to be someone other than who he was.
Adam shook his head, lack of sleep was playing tricks with his mind apparently, like it had with Fran. He didn't have too much time to think on it of course as his attention was draw to the air as it suddenly started to rain a mix of glitter and streamer bits, covering all who danced under it. Of course this was quite amusing to him considering he'd just managed to get off the last bit of glitter that morning from the club he'd been to three nights previous, perhaps he was just meant to be happy-shiny for a bit longer.
He had his hand placed on of his partners back, bringing them closer when the mass of glittery bits fell from above. She stretched her arms above her head catching the bits that fell. The corners of his mouth spread into a wide smile as he watched her. He moved the hand not resting on his partners back to pluck the bits of glitter that had been covering his partners face. She continued to catch the pieces as they fell while her small body moved effortlessly to the music.
Between the arms raised above her head, his eyes again wandered to the beautiful person not to far away. The glimmering coming of the others body as he moved with the music was magnificent. It seemed to Linus that this glitter was planned as trick to keep him from looking away much less forgetting the figure. He started slowly moving toward the couple, his partner going along with the moving as if it was the most casual thing for her to do. Linus no longer cared if he was caught staring or seemed weird, all that mattered was getting a closer look. At least since he couldn't capture the moment on tape, he needed the image burned into his brain. He would never see this guy again anyway so who cared if he thought it was strange.
As the song ended, the next picked up without skipping more than a beat. Adam’s partner pulled in close, whispered something in his ear, gave him a pretty deep kiss and then drifted away into the sea of dancing people. Adam wasn’t about to stop, not yet. The vibrations of the music, the energy from the people around him, he was drowning in it- and he was loving it. It didn’t take long for him to find another partner- or another partner to find him- although it didn’t matter too much to him, he’d dance alone for all that it mattered. He did notice that his proximity to the strange stranger was closer than it had been before, Adam was sure it wasn’t an accident or natural flow of the floor.
He decided to play to his strange admirer a bit, moving behind his new blonde partner and dance so they both faced him. A smirk spread over his face as he brushed the hair from the girls shoulder, his other hand slipping around her waist. The man seemed to want a show, and Adam was in just a mood to put one on.
Both of his eyebrows as the woman dancing with the beautiful man whispered then kissed him. It was a reflex of course, but he was still glad that the other hadn't seemed to notice… he hoped. Linus barely blinked before another person had moved in, not that he was surprised he could imagine there being tons of people lined up to dance with this guy. He was relieved his partner had still not seemed bored with him. Once she had his attention she latched her arms around his neck and started shouting over the music in Greek. He didn't have the faintest idea of what she meant.
He now had the back of his partner facing the man, to better his own view naturally. She continued to say things, but by now Linus's brain was too preoccupied with the show only a few steps away. It was awkward being faced by both of them, and even more when the other seemed to be wearing a smirk. His eyes raked over the scene; where the man had his hands, how he was moving his hips and then back up to his feet. He raised an eyebrow at the man raising one corner of his mouth into a smile. It was a dare for the man to go further, not that this was what Linus wanted, but it was better than looking away, flushed, like an idiot.
Adam’s dance partner looked as if she was somewhere else entirely. She’d melted against him, their bodies moving as one, sparkling under the light thanks to the glitter. His hand moved down her shoulder while the other moved over her stomach caressing her body. His eyes fluttered closed a moment as her head turned to take his lips into hers. He knew this dance would end and in the morning she’d probably feel embarrassment over kissing a stranger so freely, but Adam didn’t care he could feel the desire pulsating between them. The eyes from the stranger only made the sensation stronger.
He followed the movements of the others hands with wide eyes, and then that kiss...that kiss. All of it was like watching a movie, the movements were too fluid, and the lack of hesitation was too impossible. Linus wondered if this man had done something to his partner to make her that way, he smiled at the thought, it was very romantic, and cheesy, and ridiculous at the same time.
Now he felt embarrassed for staring, especially since finally, his own partner seemed to notice. She had turned around to see what was so interesting, Linus was sure he heard her scoff. When her attention was back on Linus she rolled her eyes and started shouting in Greek again, her tone was entirely different. "I'm sorry! I don't know what you're saying!" He shouted trying to keep his voice polite. She laughed at him and slapped his chest playfully before taking off. His eyes widened. Have I just been shafted!?
He lifted his hand to wave casually. "Okay, I'll just meet you at the bar then!" He lied, trying to make it sound like he hadn't just been blown off. He didn't dare look at the couple that had been the cause. He could see the laughing face of that beautiful man, and now that he thought of it, he rather wanted to. He started to dance by himself, keeping it casual. Once his body no longer felt awkward moving without the music, he chanced a glance.
Adam and his partner had moved from their previous spot, but would't force Linus to look long as warm hand found way to the small of his back, the girl was hanging off Adam's other arm. She didn't seem to speak much english, but she had seemed to understand enough. "Tha' looked like it hurt." He said loudly to be heard over the music, the slight welsh in his voice barely audiable.
He cocked an eyebrow in the mans direction. "That looked like it hurt" What a smart ass, Linus thought. He didn't need to add that kind of comment, but his voice -did- sound lovely. And.. He spoke English! It sounded good too. This was an opportunity, he had expected the man to be Greek, or at least not an English speaker. He stepped closer without hesitating and held out a hand. "I'm Linus.." He kicked himself mentally, what a stupid way to approach the man. But what was the worst that could happen? He would be ignored..or something nasty would be said. He couldn't be ignored though, he was in his club clothes and looked good! At least this is what he was convincing himself of.
"Adam." He replied, taking the man's hand in his own. The blonde joined her hand in and introduced herself as 'Lina'. "Are you thirsty Linus?" He asked.
"Of course all that dancing." He smiled politely at the girl and turned toward the bar, a smile on his face. He was thrilled, this was way better than the reaction he was expecting. "You speak English.. where are you from? I'm from Seattle" He said as they navigated through he bodies.
"Denver by way of Wales." He replied as they approached the crowded bar. Lina continued to hang on to Adam as they walked, looking across him to Linus with a playful smile. "Lina's from here... she doesn't speak too much English, but she speaks enough." Adam chuckled a little. The trio had no read trouble reaching or finding a clear spot to the bar, people seemed to be drawn to look at the two men, but gave them the room they needed.
"That's too bad, I was looking forward to getting to know her better." Before taking a seat he patted down his back pocket checking for his wallet and phone again. "So you guy's know each other?" He asked not expecting a yes. He ordered another water from the bar.
Adam ordered a martini with a 'favor' and a bottle of water. The blonde ordered the same. "About as well as we know you." He replied, leaning against the bar between the two of them as Lina took the other free stool. "But I'm sure we can change that."
He took a sip of his water and nodded. "Yeah, that's totally a possibility, I mean we both speak the same language, and Lina speaks a language." He gave the woman a small smile, and proceeded to finish the rest of his bottle in one drink.
Their drinks were delivered, acompanied with a folded napkin. Lina giggled as she picked hers up and quickly put her fingers to her lips before taking a sip, too quick to notice what she'd done. Adam was a bit less hasty as he palmed the napkin and lifted his drink. "And we have all night." He said, toasting the man before taking a sip of his drink. "You playing designated?" He asked, nodding to the bottle of water. "Or are you here for a good time?"
"I don't need that to have a good time." He gave the other a cheeky smile, and ordered another water for himself. Actually he couldn't hold his liquor well at all. He'd rather risk looking like a dweeb here rather than looking like a jackass because he had one too many. He didn't want to risk being the only drunk guy amongst the sobers either. He wanted to change the subject.. "So Adam, what brings you all the way to Greece?"
"You may not -need- one, but don't you want one?" Adam asked, taking another sip from his drink. "I pointed at a map." Which was true, the reasons behind it were a bit more complicated, but this wasn't the scene to get into it. "And yourself."
He chuckled a bit and waved his hand. "No I'll pass tonight."
Wow.. just pointed, he wished he could do that. He wondered if the guy worked or anything.. maybe he was from a super rich family and just traveled to be a playboy in every country.. or maybe he was lying and had much more dangerous reasons. He smiled and shook off his thoughts before they became too much. "I'm working on a film here." By now he had completely forgotten Lena, not that he cared to pay her too much attention. "How long are you here for? As long as you'd like?" He laughed a bit.
Lina hadn't forgotten him though and had moved off the stool over to Linus, she started to touch his shirt- chuckling a little. "Not too much longer actually." There was someone waiting for him. "Though if I could I wouldn't mind staying." But he had a tux to be fitted for, and kids to help. "A film?" Adam asked, trying to change the attention from him and the unhappy topic. "You an actor, camera, director?" He asked curiously.
He was nodding at what Adam was saying and leaning back in his stool at the same time. When did Lena decide to get so friendly. "It's really nice you like my shirt and all, but I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable, you know the heat, and the touching, and I'm feeling a bit nauseated," He was trying to be polite. He took her wrists lightly and placed them down on her lap. "Why don't you just keep these here." Having said that he turned to Adam and released her hands. "I'm an aspiring filmmaker, but right now I work under the director as an assistant."
The girl's face fell as she said something in greek that was well beyond the ten phrases Adam had picked up, but she did as Linus had requested and left him alone. "Got to start somewhere I guess." Adam replied, holding a hand out to Lina. "If you're feeling a bit hot perhaps you need to cool down." He offered. "Most times the bathrooms in these places are air conditioned pretty well and the tile can feel really nice." He said, his thoughts flashing to the last time he was in a club bathroom with is bare back agaisnt the tile in the bathroom stall.
He stood up from his stool and straightened out his pants. He checked his back pocket again, everything was safe. "I think I'll do that." He nodded at the suggestion to go to the bathroom, he had to take a piss anyway, two bottles of water was enough to put his bladder on edge. He looked around the heads of people until he found the area where the bathrooms were. "I'll be right back." He added walking past the couple, toward the bathroom. He hoped that by the time he returned Lina would he hooked on someone else. Adam seemed nice enough, and if Linus got the chance he wanted to film him before he left. He wasn't going to ask with her around though. But then again maybe Adam would be there when he got back. He seemed like he could be a tease, or flighty. He didn't want to think about -that-
The bathroom was still dimly lit, but it was indeed much cooler. There were a few people standing around the sinks, but not many. Linus loved that guys never hovered in bathrooms. He made his way to the urinal at the end of the room.
Adam was actually tempted to follow Linus, but before he could Lina and he were joined by another person who’d taken up the seat left vacant by Linus. After a bit of flirtation between the girl and the new guy Adam encouraged the two to go dance. Adam finished his martini and stuck his party favor in his pocket for later.
Linus carefully washed his hands, checking himself in the mirror to make sure he looked good still. Satisfied, he left the cool room, stepping into the heat of the dance floor once more. Once he had rejoined Adam, a small grin was plastered on his face. He hadn't left, and even more Lina was gone. Linus decided not even to acknowledge the fact as he took a seat at the bar once more. "Do you come here often?" He figured he did, not only because he was the best looking, most fluid moving person out there, but he looked young and full of energy for clubbing.
“Are you aware that pick up line is ancient?” Adam asked with a chuckle. He’d ordered himself another drink, and Linus another bottle of water.
He hadn't expected that kind of response. He shook his head with a small grin. "Despite what you might think, I was not trying to pick you up, at least not yet." He added with a cheeky grin, since again he didn't want to seem like a guy who would back down from the teasing. "I just mean, the way you dance-the reason I was watching. You move very nice."
“Thanks.” He replied as the bartender came back with his drink and the water, which he handed to Linus. “Music is music, y’can dance t’it in any place. Even if y’ve never been there b’fore.” Adam took a sip of his drink and smiled over his glass to the young man.
He took the bottle and slid it between his hands nodding at the words the other was saying. A smile stretched across his features as he thought of this guy doing a polka dance, square dancing, or something along those lines. He finally looked up from his water returning the others smile. "I guess if you dance a lot, that's the case." He never thought of himself as a good dancer, but he enjoyed it still. "I could use a lot more practice I think." Having said that he stood up from his stool and headed to the floor slowly, but trying to be casual. He wanted for the other to follow him, but wanted to seem like he could care less if he did.
“Y’were doin’ fine from what I could see.” Adam told him, before taking another sip of his drink and leaving it for the dance floor with Linus. “Y’ve just gotta let th’music go through y’ an’ move y’, y’can’t resist it.”
Maybe being coy wasn't the right approach, but then why was he thinking of an approach, he didn't need to act a certain way to get this guys attention. He didn't -need- this guys attention, he wanted it. Once he found the other was coming along he a wide grin spread across his face. He weaved through the bodies of the other dancers until he found himself somewhere in the middle. Now he was more conscious of how he looked while dancing though he tried to shake it off. All he had to do was dance like last time. Just move to the music...but it was so hard, with the other man -right there-. He closed his eyes, if he couldn't see him he wouldn't feel the pressure, he would just have to make sure he stayed in the same spot, or close to it. Once he felt the music take over he wouldn't need to close his eyes.
Adam didn’t hesitate, he came right up to the other man as his eyes closed and danced. He reached out and touched the man’s arm with one hand and his chest with the other. It was almost like electricity as he felt his fingers tingle upon contact with the other man- so similar to the way it had been with Fancy.
His eyes opened as soon as he felt the touches to his arm and then his chest. He stared for a few long moments at the other and then pointedly focused on his shoulder as he calmed himself. He really didn't want to blow this by saying anything stupid, but what was there to blow? It was just dancing he thought, but that definitely isn't what he -felt-. All he could do now was smile, and he was sure that for a second he stopped moving. He quickly snapped out of that trance and started moving. He was on a high, from something simple as a touch. One of his hands automatically stretched out to grip just above the others hip.
Adam felt it too, but then again it was all he’d been feeling. What was happening to him? He continued to dance, letting his body move along the waves, writhing with the crowd full of high, drunk or love struck club goers. He wasn’t sure exactly how much time had passed or how many songs had gone by as they moved on the floor. Adam did move closer at some point, keeping a hand on his chest but slipping the other up on his shoulder to kinda drape off the man.
By now his gaze had refocused on Adam. Not so much nervous anymore as the others hand had draped over his shoulder. And now, Linus had latched both of his arms around the others slender waist, he reveled in how the other felt in his arms, so warm and exciting, even though he was sure they were moving slowly. He lifted the corner of his mouth into a small grin, the kind that suggested an inside joke.
Eventually the floor around them cleared a bit as most of the clubgoers started to head home for the night. It was late and getting later and Adam barely noticed. They’d been dancing in a daze for so long and it was wonderful. However part of him was very much aware of the time and despite his normal late nights he also knew he was expecting a call that night, well not night in America. He slowed his dancing even more until they came to a stop and he smiled to the man. “Y’r a pretty good dancer.”
He nodded. "Yeah excellent." He hadn't noticed they had stopped until he heard his own voice. "Oh I mean, you too." He released the other from his hold and turned his head around and to the sides. "What happened to all the people?" That was a stupid question to ask. "Oh yeah they left…" He nodded kind of awkwardly. "Guess we should leave." He turned his head toward the door and then to Adam again. "I mean not together." He shook his head quickly. "Not that I wouldn't like to." He looked at his wrist as if there was a watch on it. "Oh jeeze it's really late."
Adam chuckled a little and stepped closer to Linus. “I do hope to see you again.” He said with a bit of a smile. Acting on impulse, without thinking, the man stepped in and pressed his lips to the other mans lips. It was as deep a kiss could be without involving the tongue, and only lasted seconds- but what long seconds. Pulling back Adam gave Linus another smile before stepping back and heading toward the door. He’d normally invite the man back to his hotel, but this night he had other plans.
