RP: New bedroom linen can be a treat.... Date: August 26, 2000, afternoon Characters: Shelby (a.k.a. Jocelyn), Jude, AND OPEN Location: department store in muggle London Public/Private: PUBLIC Summary: Jocelyn goes out as her blond persona, Shelby after working at the teashop, in muggle London and in a beautiful mood. Status: Incomplete
Jocelyn loved going out as Shelby for odd errands. She didn't need to be Shelby most of the time, besides working at the teashop now, and since Agatha thought Shelby was a muggle, she had to pretend to be a muggle now as Shelby besides during faction meetings. It was going to be a hard line to thread, not allowing herself to be exposed as she opened herself more and more as Shelby. For some reason, despite Shelby's whole existence being a lie, she felt freer as Shelby. Shelby wasn't bound to being a witch. Shelby was free to pretend to be a muggle. She'd love for Shelby to be a muggle, but she couldn't go there completely when Shelby was who she was with the Gold faction. The Gold faction didn't like muggles in their midst, and she'd already told them all she was a witch. Fortunately for her the Gold Faction was too secretive, wanting to keep their status in the wizarding world even when they claim not to believe, to actually look into who Shelby Collins had been before she showed up at a meeting. They never asked about her background, her schooling, her world outside the faction, but she only had to prove her status due to knowing Emily. She had paperwork as Shelby Collins if they ever asked, of course, but so far, after the initial meeting, they hadn't asked anything. It was like they didn't want to know.
She had a meeting with the Gold faction later that day, so she decided when she didn't have to work at Soba tonight, to just be Shelby for the day. The whole day. Shelby Collins deserved a day on the town. She deserved to be looked at by men, and yes, she was. She noticed it right away. Jocelyn the brunette wasn't ignored by men by far, but Shelby, the blond, seemed to turn more heads. Maybe it was the way she walked, her head held high, her long legs in a determined stride, or maybe it was something as simple as men thought that blonds were more fun, had more fun.
Going to the department store near the teashop, she headed for the home department. She wanted some new linen for her bedroom even if she didn't really need them. She really didn't spend her money frivolously even when she was making more while working at the Ministry of Magic. But she felt the desire to splurge, to treat herself, and to be able to give something nice to herself and bedsheets would be just the thing. She still had the green bedroom decor from years ago. As she looked over the styles and colors they had, running her hand over the soft fabric of one in blue. A soft, clear blue would be nice and calming to sleep in. There was a nice comforter to match, too. Maybe some curtains to match? She felt like she just needed to go with her first choice and it seemed to be blue.
