Demelza rolled her eyes. She didn't really believe it. Katie lived a rather routine life from what Demelza knew, but she knew better than to say. "Okay then," she said with a shrug. She wasn't going to argue and she had no place to protest. Nor would she want to.
Mike nodded toward Katie when she spoke to him. He glanced at Demelza, who smiled at him reassuringly to say everything to was okay. So he turned away again, giving them what privacy he could afford to. She liked Mike and most of the other bouncers. Despite everything, they were nice and treated all the girls with respect.
She was surprised by the smile and instead of smiling back, just looked at Katie with confusion. "I know that, actually. The secret is--" She nodded toward the stage. "--with the lights and everything, you can't see a damned thing in the audience. You only see the men when you do something one-on-one and you're strictly in control there. You control the fantasy; you have the power."
