Maddox smiled at her laughter. She hadn't been offended, thankfully, but he knew it was harder than hell to really offend Molly. She was tough even if she had a soft side to her. He loved both sides. He loved her. Not that he could say that aloud. "Yes, we are good parents, both of us," he agreed with pride. "Our children couldn't have asked for better," he added in a teasingly arrogant way.
He smirked, not even trying to hide it. "Did she succeed? In annoying you I mean?" he asked, amused. He could see how the ridiculous child could get to her. She had a way to get under everyone's skin if she tried. Sometimes, he wondered what she really knew about Molly and him. She seemed to be too observant for her own good at times from what he heard. Apparently, she also made a terrific lookout and everyone tried to convince him to bring her along with them when they went out with him. He always refused, chose someone else. He was nervous that she'd fail on purpose, pushing his hand to do something he wasn't ready or just getting him in trouble so she could say she knew he wasn't right for it to begin with. "They aren't missions, Molls," he said gently at her description. "And yeah, so am I. That's why I won't take her."
