Evan smirked. "There's been some good changes. You're not around anymore," he said smugly. "That's always a good thing."
He wanted to see John get angry - really angry - like he had when he'd grabbed him. He wanted to see the rage in his expression, to know he won. Clearly the same old tactic wasn't going to work. John was right that he needed new material, but he didn't know what. Not here. He was being put on the spot! It's not like he sat around thinking of things to say to piss John off! "Yet, I'm a liar. You actually don't know what is true and what's not. You don't know anything, do you? You can either believe me and my lies or me and my second set of lies or try to relay on your gut instinct that keeps failing you and bring you back here. It's sort of sad. I'd hate to be in your place."
