Astoria didn't like Daphne's dismissive tone. It always made her feel belittled in a strange way. And it clearly told her that Daphne hadn't believed her. It was annoying. The terrible thing was that although she and Cormac had always teased each other as if it were some game, to her it had meant a little more. She hadn't wanted to admit because she knew better but deep down it was the truth. "Thank you," she said primly. She really hoped that her sister didn't actually go through with any of it. She wanted to be able to walk away from Cormac and never have anything to do with him again. Having Daphne take any action against him would just make thingsā¦ messy. And Astoria did not like messy.
"I don't think he wants to know the truth. And I would be too scared to tell him." She loved Cleon perhaps more than anyone. If she didn't want her parents disappointed in her, she definitely didn't want her big brother disappointed either. And yet she told him everything. Everything that did not include men, sex, or alcohol. "I think a convent might suit you though," she added in a serious tone before smirking. Someone had to straighten Daphne out. She was sure if she said that out loud, she'd get hexed. She shook her head at the way Daphne talked about her boss. It was kind of funny and a little sad all the same. "You could always take her out," Astoria suggested in amusement. She was actually jealous of how driven and focused Daphne was.
