Daphne's frown deepened when Astoria hesitated. She had no reason to hesitate. The guy was a prick who has used her. She had no reason to try to protect him or not air his dirty laundry. He deserved it and more. When she said the name, Daphne thought for a moment. McLaggen. McLaggen. She knew of the McLaggen and what she knew of them wasn't pretty. Clearly, Astoria wasn't around Daphne's normal haunts to hear what she did, which made it worse. She knew Cormac McLaggen wasn't really that bad, but his father. The things that Daphne had heard of his father - his married with a son father, mind you. She frowned, not wanting to give anything way to Astoria. Astoria felt bad enough.
"You're still going to Paris?" she blurted out, surprised. Then she smirked - devilish and wicked with no good intentions in sight - and said, "Actually, yeah you should. Go and leave his ass there with some hot Frenchman who knows how to treat a lady - at least in bed - on your arm. Serves him right. Actually, he deserves a lot worse... I'll make sure he gets it..." The smirk fell from her face to be replaced with something that looked like she honestly plotting something in her head. She blinked back to reality as Astoria continued. "So, you're saying. This guy - are you sure he's straight? - got engaged to a lesbian? Does he not want to get laid his whole life? Oh Merlin, Stori, was he that bad in bed?" She actually reached out and laid her hand in an almost sympathetic gesture on Astoria's shoulder as she broke out the family nickname for Astoria. She couldn't imagine him being this much of a prick and bad in bed. In fact, this Cormac McLaggen had a decent reputation in her circle, not that she'd admit that to Astoria. She shrugged. "Well, let's be honest, would you have fucked him if he was engaged whether it's a real relationship or not?"
