Daphne sat in the back with a book about Ancient Runes opened in front of her. She was allowed to read the inventory as long as she didn't take it out of the store without buying it or ruin it. Then she'd have to pay for it. The old hag was gone already, off to something that old hags do. And Daphne was bored. Customers were few and far between. She turned the page, finding herself interested in the breakdown of what a word could mean. It was really fascinating when one thought of it. Biting her lip as she read, she didn't hear the chime over the door. She only came to when she heard her voice.
Snapping her head up, she shut the book and placed it on a table nearby as she headed for the front. Walking behind the counter, she scanned for Astoria who had called her name. She saw her wandering the aisles. "Astoria?" she said, surprised. It wasn't that she never saw her sister, but she really couldn't remember the last time Astoria had shown up at her job. Nor could she remember the last time she visited Astoria at work, not that Astoria had a job anymore. "Hey. Come here," she said, her voice more welcoming than the command would let on.
