Sam had overheard Evan and Teagan talking. He had been surprised to see her there but when he heard John's name it made sense. He had hung back, not wanting to get in the middle of it. When he heard Evan laugh, he cringed. He liked Teagan. He liked Evan. He didn't want to get in the middle of this but his sense of morals was getting in the way. He didn't join up with PAM to bring pain to muggles. He had wanted to bring them their rights to freedom that the magical folk denied them. This was not what he had signed up for and he felt-knowing what he did-that he had to do something.
When Teagan made her move to leave, he followed, looking for a spot to intercept her. He managed to catch up and reached out to grab her arm. "Teagan?" he said in a low voice, "I have something to tell you."
